Hi, I'm new to the site. Haven't owned a snowmobile in years, and just picked up a 1991 Polaris Indy 400
It has about 3500 miles on it and is in pretty great shape, it starts everytime on the first pull. My question is is there anything I should look for as far as problems go? I don't really know alot about these sleds

I would say, if it seems to be good, just do the routine checks on it. Check tie rod ends, grease front and rear suspension, check out boogie wheel bearings, slides, carbides, carb boots for cracks. Basically general maintenance.
Maybe watch the spark plug color for the first couple rides (just to make sure they are right and somebody didn't mess with things). Other than that, have a good time with it and welcome to the site!!!

Welcome DRZsp! I would see if you can hunt down a shop manual on ebay for your machine. It's worth a look!?!

You will absolutely love it. But it will be out done lol. I started back up 2 seasons ago with a 1991 indy 400 in no where near the shape yours is. Replaced the drive shaft bearing... And rode the crud out of it. Wonderful little tiger. And I am well over 300lbs of a rider. It was a bit rough but had a ton of pull for a small machine. I still own it today as a loaner sled. And picked up a 97 ultra spx 700. So I would say good call and fun little toy to start with :). Also as stated welcome to SF you will definatly find a ton of help for any question on this one. Good find and hope the snow flies soon!

Thanks alot guys, I just happened to drive buy it the a few days ago, and the guy was putting the for sale sign on it. He was askin $800. I offered him $500, and he said no, came back 2 days later offered him $500 again and left him my number. He called me last night and said ok , so now its sitting in my garage. He put a track on it last year, and just tuned it up. The oil injection line looks alittle old so I'm gonna replace that, and the coolent resivor has a small leak, so I'll replace the hoses, and fix that, other wise It's pretty clean, It starts on the first pull, and seems the rev nice and clean.

Welcome to SF! You got a good price for a great little sled. Those fuji twins are some of the most durable engines ever made. Good performance too considering their size.
