Has anyone else had problems with their head lights working sometimes and not others. I just got a 2000 xcr 800 the headlights only worked on low but now nothing works. I haven't looked into it yet. Just thought I would get some suggestions.

the most common problems are the dimmer switch goes bad and the voltage regulator.
check bulbs 1st. If you replace burnt out bulbs with good ones and they burn out
again, your looking at a bad voltage regulator . also check ground. Any auto parts stores should have the bulbs you need.

yah probably the dimmer switch but check the bulbs first-even the new sleds have problems with the dimmer switchs-you just have to clean the contact points

i have a 2000 SKS, same chassis, body etc.........anyway my lights were doing the same thing and it was a wire that was rubbing the hood. There was exposed wire and it was shorting out. Put some electrical tape on it and no problems so far.

I have heard that the voltage regulators go bad on these as previously stated.

I agree with ACEXLT. I had that happened to my '00 XCR 2 yrs ago and as it turned out, regulator went bad. WL.

I had my regulator go bad on my 2000 Triumph. Sometimes when i fired it up i'd have lights and then the next time i'd have nothing.
