Kinda looked this sled over really quick, it seems to have the Extra 10 suspension though. Any advice on it and such would be greatly appreciated.

rock solid sled. It's still one of the fastest in stock form at the drag strip.

This one has VES, is that correct? Also, does this one have the Xtra 10, or does it have something newer, dont think its an Edge chassis yet. Only thing it needs that I can see of is it needs to be reshimmed, steering is loose, and the oil bottle leaks. Odometer says 600 miles, which may be true, but I'm not sure. Rest of sled looks great.

yes it has VES. and yes it has xtra 10. (this sled is the Gen 2 chassis.) but it is better than a regular xtra10 because it features a fox position sensitive shock in the rear torque arm (automatically adjusts the stiffness according to the force its taking at the given moment). makes a difference! i even added a fox resevoir shock to the front torque arm, and i dont think it rides much worse than an edge.

definitely reshim the clutch, and get a new oil bottle. however i find it hard to believe that the sled needs those kind of fixes (loose steering is caused by wear and tear) after just 600 miles...

Why would the clutch need reshimmed, unless you meant the steering. What looks like what happened is the pin that connects to the tierods at the end of the steering shaft loosened, and started chucking, causing it to loosen up. Biggest problem is, is if this 600 is as fast as claimed, I think the Storm will be going bye bye.... Kinda hate to do that, but if I got a good price for it, I'd feel alright.

that 600 is a feather compared to a storm, you should pick that 600 up better overall sled.

I can get that 600 for a very good price, and the more I think about it, the more I want to pull the trigger. The Storm doesnt see the lakes or ice drags like I used to take it, I'd be better off trying to get $1600 or so for that and letting it go.

Better pull the trigger on the 600, it will not disappoint you. I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I could find one.

The guy wants $1500 for it, as is. It's gonna need to steering fixed. Odometer says 58x miles, which im not sure if its right, why would the steering be messed up? Although, the track and every thing else looks like low miles....I'm gonna call him today to see if I cant get ahold of it, gotta fix the steering before I get it.

Speedos are real easy to replace. If it only has that many miles, you should be able to tell. Steering could be messed up from hitting a rock or something. Look for anything that is bent in the front suspension.

Yeah, or it may have loosened up and the original owner didnt notice or care and it wore. Now how big of a deal would it be if I wanted to put this motor in an Edge chassis, just outta curiousity. What makes the '00 600cc so much better anyways? VES?

First year VES engine and it rocked! Wasn't on the ragged edge, but it was jetted lower than the same model year 500ves, got better fuel mileage and ran hard all day in any conditions.

The big block 600 is a totally different motor than this 600 with VES.
The 2000 XC 600 SP in the GENII is faster due to the xtra 10, different jetting from the factory and different gearing. The VES springs are even different. Yes you could put that motor in an edge.

Ok, thanks guys. What should I look for on this sled that's going to be different versus a Indy 500 or something with a Fugi in it, as I know nothing about the Liberty's except everyone likes them. Like the VES, I have no idea what to look for, or what to check when I'm looking at purchasing. I dont want to get hosed cuz I didnt know my stuff on them. Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

I picked up a '00 xcsp 600 last year. Had 4800 miles and sat for two years. I went through the usual things and it runs like a champ. You won't be disappointed.

Nothing about the Liberty motor, as far as the VES its something you will have to take off every know and then to be cleaned, sometimes the bellows can be riped and need replaced.

Looks for any damage on the sled. Make sure the sled starts right up. If it looks like it was ridden hard and he changed out the speedo, bring a compression tester... if no damage and runs great, any other repairs will be pretty inexpensive and easy to do... at least IMO

I got it, but I dont have it home yet. Picking it up Saturday. Had 130psi in each cylinder. Only thing I need to do is replace the rubber grommet at the bottom of the oil jug, as this one is cracked and leaking. The sled is in really good shape, looks really good. I'll put some pictures up when I get it home, as I'm sure I may have some more questions too. I'm probably gonna tear into the VES and make sure its good and clean and the bellows arent tore.

Good idea, woundnt hurt to clean the carbs, tear apart the clutches and clean those as well. Then you get a really good look at what you bought. Just my 2 cents

Only other thing, is I'd really like to find a manual for it, I looked and it doesnt look like Clymer makes one. I'm sure I'll have more questions, but between the search feature on here, and a manual, I think I can handle it. Thanks guys, cant wait to get her home and tear into her!
