This is hilarious. I find it beyond funny due to some inside-joke type thing that we've had around here since high school, where all these guys would buy early '90s Mustangs and talk about them nonstop... But anyway that's not my point.
It's almost 10 minutes long but it's worth the watch. The on wheel dyno is funny and the comment made in the last like 10ish seconds is hilarious.

Every Top Gear video on youtube I have favorited haha. I agree though, and criticize Ford for the live axle alot, some independent suspension would make it a very formidable car.

Some funny remarks, and also some very good points, but as being a fan of the Mustang, not the 87-92's though, I do like it. And here is some you may never see again:
Southern Comfort Edition
GT 500 Super Snake
2010 427R
All beautiful cars and would take any of them any time.

Gotta love Mustangs. My dad's got one:
98' 4.6 DOHC Cobra - Procharged w/ 10lbs of boost - 5 Speed - Mach 460 Sound System - Ported intake - 10.5:1 flat top pistons - MMR Connecting rods - Forged crank. There's also some other stuff, but I forgot. Making roughly 590hp at the crank.

Not exactly a huge fan of the Mustang, and for the exact reasons they state in the video. I think they look awesome, but they need to mate that power and those looks with a nice chassis and suspension....even if it does cost a little more.

Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.

Mainly a fan of the older ones - '67-73. But respect the newer ones making big power.

Remember, that is a program created for entertainment of Brits. They know about the numbers, trust me. They usually refer to BHP (brake horsepower) which is the wheel power on vehicles.
They are just taking the chance to take more shots at American cars, which are truly inferior to most foreign cars in performance and handling as a total package. The majority of the reason for that though, is that N/A cars are designed and built with cost cutting in mind VS the others which are built by smaller manufacturers with smaller overhead, no union wages/benefits, etc..
As an example, did you see the borad where they placed the magnets? The Mustangs couldn't beat the Subaru Impreza, which has 1/2 the HP, but more spent on traction. But mustangs were designed as straightline cars, exactly as the buyers want them. So there's nothing wrong with that..
95 - Storm 800 - Modded - AKA: FrankenStorm - Totalled near 100mph at Tug Hill!
96 - XLT/SP with Storm 800 trip/trip and now EFI - FrankenStorm II lives...
95 - RXL -- Sale Pending --
05 - Edge 800 long track - Stayin' stock for now..

Exactly. When the new Mustang was in the design phase, they actually went to the public and asked them what they wanted to see in the car. The majority wanted a solid axle, which holds up to power better than an independent. Sure, they could've designed a rear independent to hold up, but like said, there would be a large price increase and Ford didn't want that. Ford went with what the people wanted. Very smart move. With the new body design, I remember the Mustangs being sold before they were even unloaded from the transporters. Ford hit it right on the head with this car.
