on ebay??? 1 peice or 2??? cheater syle??
heres what mine looked like.
Mine was just a premium 93 octane head. I never had to adjust the carbs or jetting.
Make sure you didn't buy a high altitude head.
They had many different head colors over the years.

I just stopped in at Speedwerx, and asked all these questions; because I just installed one on my XC 600 last weekend. You DO NOT need to re-jet or tune your sled when installing a Hot Seat head. I believe I saw that head on eBay? It has two seperate domes on the inside, on one side of the domes you'll see EX that's the exhaust side; and on the other you'll notice the actual part number that coralates to the altiude, octain, ect. Call Speedwerx when you get that number and ask them what he specs are. The nice thing about that head is the custom cover it came with. Hope that helps. The phone number for hot seat is 651-982-0600.
I just looked at the picture again. It does look like a one piece, but I've never known hot seat to make a one piece. It will have the part number on the inside of the head, so you can call.
C1 Steel wool and aluminum polish will get that baby looking brand new.

Thanks!
What do you think its worth? I paid 67 dollars for it.
I talked to the guy i bought it from. he said it is for a higher elevation, but i should be ok, and to check the compression once its on to make sure its not over 170 psi, and i should be able to run 93 pump gas. He also said that the numbers are not accurate because the head has been re chamberd.

That way you will know what elevation the head is for. You didn't get any info the head did ya? You might be able to go to hsp's site and look up the numbers also.
I paid over $100 when I got mine so you did well.

I was worried about losing bottom end. When you say tuneing do you mean the carbs or just everything in general?

not really other than the jeting changes to have optimum running, or put on a t-flow..
make sure the head will work with the pipes.

i have a question for you guys. i'm looking at these twin hot to go pipes for my xc 800. i was telling my buddy that i would only have to change the jetting. he is saying i would have to change jetting, clutch set up (clutch weights, springs, helix) and different heads with less compression. what do you guys think?

clutching change to compensate for the higher hp and rpms, jetting and yes some 800 xc's needed a lower comp head as the pipe put it near race fuel requirments.
I doubt you will have to change helix but for sure weights.
