is it really slow to reach about 40-50 and then you take off? cuz i had that problem on my old sled, which was a 98 zl 500. turned out one of the pistons was completely shot. maybe try putting some oil down on the cylinder wall and see if you have that problem still, if it seems to work back to normal for a short period then go back to being problematic, that may be your problem. i am just speaking off personal experience.

My first thought might be bad gas.. Personally my sled is very touchy when its running crappy gas.

Clean your carbs first. Fresh gas would be good too.

I would suggest when you have the carbs out for cleaning, check to make sure you have the proper size jets in there. Cross reference with a shop manual. (I bought my sled used and found that it had the wrong jetting installed)

just a couple squirts is all i did. take the spark plugs out and put a couple squirts down there and take it for a ride. keep in mind i am far from an experienced mechanic.
