Best Hand and Thumb Warmers
- Putting a new set of hand and thumb warmers on my sled this year and want to know what are a good set to buy.

Hey guys!
This year I am going to put a new set of hand and thumb warmers on my sled, as well as a set of Polaris handguards. I want to know what are a good affordable set/kit to buy. Ones that get HOT too, as I have no windsheild and will only have handguards. The ones on my sled now barely work and just barely heat up.

I tried the Hot Grips brand, IMO, don't waste your money on them. Ended up going with some from Moose. I can't keep them on too long as they get too hot. Remember, you get what you pay for. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_ca...Id=&mmyId=http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_ca...Id=&mmyId=If you get the no-adhesive ones, they will tell you to soak with WD-40 for 10 minutes....spray them 3-4 times for about 15 min. They'll go on really easy, just have to do it on one push, don't stop.

No it doesn't, must draw too much current or something? I found these ones though, the "SPX Grip Heater Kit" and the "SPX Thumb Warmer" would I need to run a battrey with those too? There isn't much information on them and I can't find the SPX website.

Get the RSI high output elements!! They are the best and you don't need to mess with a battery just wire them into what you have.
I got them last year and they are amazing www.rsiracing.com

Thanks for the info, but I'm looking for a set with the heating element already coiled into the grip because the grips are shot on my sled too. Thanks for the info though.

RSI all the way. On the Hi setting on my wife's sled the grips actuallg got soft from the heat. Cheaper than the OEM ones and much better!

Oh, I thought the heating element was somehow coiled into the grip? I will have to check out those RSI ones than. Do they make a thumb warmer as well? Oh and do they come with all the wiring and stuff you need to install them?

Nope, no battery needed, and they come with all the wiring, switches, etc.. and work really good. I only ride with a pair of mechanix gloves and they get too hot on low after about 15 minutes. I have never used high except to preheat, then flipped to low.

Looks like your sled uses a standard Polaris regulator, so it should have plenty of output. I have heard of some cases where certain sleds will not have enough power output to power some accs. Don't know if this is one though. I can't find any info on output of the lighting coil for the Starlite.

On www.polarisman.com specifications it says that the alternator output is 12V 150W so I'm assuming that should enough to sustain hand and thumb warmers when they are on the sled already, but are worn out.

150 watts? Heck, you'll have plenty of power to use then.

Well guys, I have no money and my dad is too cheap to buy the Moose hand and thumb warmers, I had the order all filled out and stuff but he thought it was too much so he is going to figure out another way to fix them wether it be replacing the elements or wiring. I might somehow have to come up with some money so I can buy some decent ones myself. I know that if you don't have some good hand and thumb warmers your hands are definately going to be cold. Which would be a problem because my hands always seam to get cold, especially because I have no windshield.
