Bring a compression tester.. If the compression is good, snag it, it's a grand in parts..

id have to disagree... the motor is roughly 600-700 bucks. but theres not much left on the sled that is worth anything. he would barely break even. wouldnt even be worth the time

^lol its funny you say the motor is only worth 600-700 dollars... wasnt someone on here earlier arguing with me (on another forum) that he has never seen a 600 VES motor that cheap???????

Anyways I am going to go and check my buddies 05 600 to see if the boots are "upside down"

well thats what its worth to me lol. but then again it also depends on what is included. is it just the motor, or does it include the carbs, clutch, pipe/can? makes a diference, know what im saying?
but also when i sell parts, im not trying to squeeze the absolute highest dollar out of every part. i would rather sell my parts quickly and have a reputation as having a reasonable price than hold onto parts for twice as long waiting for someone to pay an extra $50 or whatever.

if it's close i think a 1000 dollars is not a bad deal. you can get a track for 350. and you have yourself a decent sled there. sled was definitely abused but the motor definitely looks clean so i believe it does only have 2500 miles. you can get that duct tape off and buy red duct tape and it wouldn't look so ****ty. those engines run forever. like i said if it's close i would go look at it. i wouldn't let these guys scare you away. check it out and don't forget to bring a compression tester.

the track has seen better days (looks like its been grass dragged or at least rode on minimal snow conditions. The duct taped hood is a nice add on(was Red Green the owner?). Great engine though.....I'd pay a grand for it....after I checked compression and looked it over good

My buddies 05 XCSP 600 doesnt have the holes for the bottle.

part number for the carb boots on the 05xcsp600 is 1253423. the boots had the stems that were capable of holding a boost bottle, but the rubber mold down inside the stem is plugged. like said before, a boost bottle is an aftermarket add-on that the owner must install. it was never offered as an option from polaris. the owner has to cut out the rub inside the stem to open it up to allow the boost bottle to function.
all xc's have these carb boots, but if you dont see the stems sticking up, its because the boots are in upside down and the stems are pointing downward

OK so went over to my buuddies house last night (05 XC 600 SP) and sure **** no stems on his carb boots...and no its not upside down cause I felt all around it.

Let me know if you're passing on this sled, it's a great buy for a $1k, worst case scenario you have to part it out, you will get your money back. I would bring the compression tester, look at the plugs for a Silver color, check chain case stick for debris, bellypan for dents, and IFS bars for dents. That will give you a good indication where it's been

edge gen 2????
those are two different chassis. the gen 2 chassis first started in 1999. the edge chassis first started in 1999 as well, however '99 and '00 were the xcr 440 edge (the race sleds) and were poorly made. both front and rear suspesion were prototype and the motors were pretty crappy. the first year of consumer-available edge chassis was 2001.

those definitely arent stock carb boots. i dont know of any aftermarket manufacturer making carb boots though. that is weird. but go to this site:
http://parts.polarisind.com/Browse/Browse.asp
select 'SNO' '2005' '500/600 XC SP EDGE/M-10 - SO5NE5CS' on the top drop down menus.
then click on 'CRANKCASE'
you can see the diagram has the carb boots with stems, labeled number 21. number 21 corresponds to part number 1253423 found on the left side of the page.

my bros's 99 700 had 1 but I know for a fact my BIL 00' xcsp 600 doesn't have one.

my brother bought a set of 03's boots off ebay and there is no BB tube. Maybe it was a subsitution/change and polaris didn't change the microfisch or #?????

I am not trying to argue with you but those are stock boots. I can notice that the 05 boots compared to mine 00 are longer...meaning the carbs sit further from the motor than mine do. So no big deal.

Polaris had a kit back in late 98 for hard starting 700's. I put one on my 98. Loved it, 2 squirts and no choke and see fired 1st pull cold. I then searched(3 years later) for the kit for my 440, love it also, 3 squirts, full choke, 1st pull and she going.

No need in the pro x normally 1st or second pull cold and she's going.

i don't know if this is what there designed for or nor but they fit a spark plug perfect, so the previous owner of my sled ( 2000 xc sp 600 ) used them to store spare spark plugs.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.
