2000 polaris xcf440sp bogging - Need some advice please! started by justin_be

I just bought a 2000 polaris xcf 440sp fan cooled 2,000 miles on it the guy i bought it from hasn't rode it for 2yrs, My first sled ever don't know much about them but when it starts up it seems to bog when i push on throttle fast. Need some advice please.

Sounds like a carb problem to me especially since it hasnt been run in a couple of years. Clean the carbs should be your first step.

I agree with 03pro-x700. Definately a carb problem. Give them a good cleaning make sure the jets are clear(blow them out with compressed air) and take a good look at the needle and seats to make sure they are not dry rotted. It also couldnt hurt to throw in a new set of plugs after you clean the carbs.

Since carb parts are so cheap, especially jets and needles, you might as well buy new ones and dave yourself the hassle of cleaning them anyways.

Its all in the jets, my dad rides the exact same sled right now. When we first bought it last year it was doing the exact same thing and when we brought it back to the dealer they dropped the jets and now it runs fine. Just like everybody else is saying though, a carb clean would be good for it as well.

you just bought a whole lot of problems I have one and its a peice of crap almost impossible to keep in tune dont take my word for it do a broad search of this machine and you will find hundreds of people who have bogging and meltdown problems.

does the motor pick back up and try to wind up right after it boggs?
