you need to go to the guys house that you bought the sled from, if he isnt picking up the phone anyway possible you need to get ahold of him to tell him your situation, if he does not want to cooperate then go the police and file a report against him, you have the proof with that bill of sale reciept which was smart. Dont get taken advantage of, get it worked out so you can ride your sled without having to worry about getting pulled over.

some times if you call the state that the sled was registered in and explain to them that you bought the sled and you need the owners info, you can give them the reg. number either on the year sticker or on the side of the hood....make sure you have the serial# to just in case if they ask for it...
hopefully this helps you out. then you can go to the actual owners house if the information is correct.

^^^I would have to agree. AS long as you have the correct VIN., REG. #'s that belong to that machine and you have some form of sale slip I would think they should be able to re-register it in your name.
At least they did for me here in Ohio on a boat that I just registered this Summer. I had no bill of sale and no name of the previous owner. I just had a serial # and old regisration #'s still on the boat. I did have to get the boat inspected by a ranger at a state marina to sign off on what model and length it was.
A little bit of sugar always helps with the BMV. Be very polite and explain your situation clearly and that you have done everything you can do.
Your state may have different requirements than Ohio to. I would try again anyhow. Maybe try bribing her with a jelly doghnut if charm does not work!)

Maybe in your state but not necessary MN or anywhere else. Threads about "legal issues" can get very troublesome due to varying local and state laws.
I agree with j-beaner, if he won't play, then you may have to get the law involved. If he didn't follow it he needs to be on the hook for it and not you. Keep records of you calls and maybe even try "Registered Mail", incase you end up in Court. Good luck.

The same thing happened to me, rather than trying to hunt the guy down I had them do a background check on the sled to verify that it was not stolen as well as trace the vin onto a sheet of copy paper to prove that I "possess" the machine. For me it was all taken care of pretty quickly, just my experience.

Call and figure out who's name it's registered under. Roll with it long enough to get the first name. Not that I've ever done this, but a bill of sale is just a piece of paper, easily rewritten to suit your needs......
