Hello everyone, I'm brand new to the forum because I'm seeking some info on an engine I have. I bought a yamaha golf cart and it has a snowmobile engine transplanted in it. I'm trying to figure out what year(s) make and model sled that it could have possibly come out of. When I need to order some parts, I figured that it will be easier finding parts based on the snowmobile not just the engine itself. It is definately a CCW KEC-340. It says that right on the tag of the engine. There isn't any other info after the KEC-340 like /5 or /22a or anything else.... just KEC-340. Here is what I know about the engine:

The serial number is 2909588

It has a Tillotson carb on it model number HR84A

The fan belt is a Bando A25 belt

The spark plug wires have the name KYORITSU on them

The spark plugs are NGK B8HS

The two light gray coils have the same part number on them #4407ACOE (the "O" at the end of the part number could be a zero also)

There isn't an electric start on it, but you can see where one would mount on the side of the engine.

I think that it may have come from:
A....1970 Scorpion Mark II 339cc
B....1971 Scorpion Mark II or StingerII 339cc
C....1972 John Deere 400 model

If anyone can confirm or rule out any of the above please let me know.

Tech questions:

Does anyone know what the correct Fuel to Oil ratio would be for this application?

One last question pertaining to the exhaust on the older "vintage" snowmobiles, especially with the above type engine. Did the older sleds use expansion tubes as well as a muffler setup? Just a muffler? What is the best design to have with this motor? Right now it has a dual flex tubing going back to a pair of old motorcyle mufflers, and it doesn't run bad (it's loud as hell) but I was told it will run much better with the correct type of exhaust. Is there a way to quiet down the noise level on these engines?

Thanks in Advance for any insight you may be able to provide.....Regards, Mark

I see that it still has the recoil on it, is there anything on that.
It looks kinds like a CCW.

You asked a question twice it two different sections of this forum and I gave you a reasonable answer.
Based on the image, I am saying that it might be a CCW engine. Scorpion used that engine for many years and it was a good runner with a good power band.

So, it you are goig to be stupid and come back with snarky responses, then you are now and forever on my ignore list.

Now this is the way to get questions answered, but don't take this the wrong way.

Here we go again....Another futile post. If you do not have anything helpful or informative to contribute, then don't feel obligated to participate. I was simply stating the obvious. There was simply no logical reason if the time was taken to read the entire thread that you would post such a fatuous reply. I painstakingly took the time to put up pictures, be as descriptive, and supply as much information as I possibly could when I asked for assistance. Now after all that, you are going to respond with a nonsensical answer and expect not to be chastised? I think not! Far too often people come into these forums looking for assistance and all you end up getting is immaterial replies that have absolutely, postively nothing to do with answering the call for help, all because someone wants to have 100,000 posts next to their name. But that is just my humble opinion.... And of course don't take this the wrong way.

In the description it says it is a CCW engine. I know it's a CCW engine. So why would you say " it looks like it could be"? Ignore me please! You have nothing useful to contribute any how.

If you like futile posts, here's another.
You put up pictures and a bunch of info - That's great, we need more of that.
Sometimes people forget little details - live with it.
I could care less how many posts I have next to my name - it's just a number.
Ask around how many people I have helped - you have no clue!!
Here's my help - It looks to be a CCW.

Don't take this the wrong way, but did you even read the post? If so..... What part of it's a CCW in the description didn't you understand?

This is what you wrote, and you are not chastising people??

Just for your sake, I will never read another one of your posts again, including this one.

Feel better? Oh, and don't take this the wrong way!!!

Any you say others have nothing useful to say.....

Girls, honestly, cmon.

1. Rudeinc: it's against forum policy to double post. You messed up there.
2. OldCat & XLT96: yep, fine. he double posted. He also stated MULTIPLE times in his original post that it was a CCW engine. It took me 2 seconds of reading to figure that one out. You posted the obvious, and he called you out.

Both parties need to stop flexing their keyboard muscles and let this post be answered correctly. Rudeinc made one of the better info-seeking posts I've seen on here in a long time. Let's not have it turn into a pissing match.

I also believe some, or maybe all of the Raiders came with CCW engines.
May be another avenue to explore.
