I picked up a couple handlebars that came off a couple off a couple of gen 2 500's and put them on a couple of XLT's. I bought these particular handlebars because they have a built in 3" rise with a pivot. They are the Y type that the reverse lever is mounted on the front of the handlebars with a plastic housing that covers them.

Anyway one of them has a normal throttle block, and I'm using that for the XLT with 34mm carbs. The other handlebars have a dual action throttle block with a longer throw for 38mm carbs. I figured that would be perfect since my sled has 38mm carbs. The dual action throttle block is more comfortable to use than the regular throttle block with a long throw lever that sticks out farther, but I just noticed that with the dual action block the little electrical contact button doesn't get released until a lot farther into the throttle.

With a regular throttle block, the button gets released as soon as you start giving it a little bit of throttle. With the dual action throttle block, the button doesn't get released until about half throttle.

What does this button do? I always assumed that the timing advanced when the button is released. It seems to work fine when I lift the back of the sled and spin the track, but that is with very little load on the engine. I'm worried that using this throttle block might cause a problem. Can anyone tell me one way or the other?

Great, so I'm good then. Not only did I not want to have change the throttle block, but I really like the dual action block a lot better than the older style long throw lever that sticks way out.
