So guys. i have a 1999 ZL 500, and today we went to start it on the trailer, and it took me 25 pulls to get it started...meanwhile my dad's 1999 ZL 600 (last start of both sleds, was at the same time) started in 2 pulls...any ideas what could be wrong with my sled? once i got the sled started it was fine and ran at idle without any issues. but it use to start with 2-3 pulls. i just don't want to do 25 pulls everytime i'm on the trail. what do you guys think? any suggestions as to what to check?

EFI or carbed? If carbed, clean them.
Do you have good spark?
Compression?

Well, i think i figured out the problem...we took out the coil from my dad's ZL 600, and tried it, but it didn't work. Then when we put mine back in it works just fine now, starts with 1-2 pulls...so who knows? must have just been corrosion or something. let's hope it keeps working.

My Old sled did that to me every time I got it out after sitting over the summer.
It would take about 15 pulls not 25.
But once I got it started it was fine for the rest of the year never did figure it out.
I wouldn't worry about it to much unless it starts to act up every time you start it

when in doubt throttle it out

That's how my rents 2002 440 panthers are, we just put some gas in each cylinder to start it.
