i don't know much about yamaha 4 strokes. so i ask you the fanatics. my girlfriend's dad owns a rs venture and earlier just let it run. has no starter gear, so we had to do it the old fashion way. using a rope lol. anyway, it was running earlier and had these knocking sounds and it would some what backfire, to me it seemed like there was water in the system seeing that it never was in full use for a couple of years since the starter gear failed. any ideas?

the clutchs on most yamaha 4-stokes make a knocking sound like bad lifters or something. my 4 stroke does it,dealer told me it is the clutchs.

it don't really sound like the clutches. it doesn't sound normal at the exhaust. like one of the cyl are off. seems that it's partial backfiring. thanks for the input.
