New to the sight thought I would introduce myself. There is a bunch of great info. We live in Washington state, have a 99 srx 700 triples 146" and a 2000 mm700 stock. The 99 is great had a problem last year with electrical going out at times. Finally found the main bundle of wires going under engine all worn and shorting. Removed it all repaired and put them in a loom like they should have been in the first place. The 2000 MM 700 has been smoky and boggy but runs good at the middle and top end. Starts good, wifes sled so didn't pay much attention. This year looked into it and found #1 cylinder makes no difference when removing the plug wire. Plug wet, compressions all good, same spark on all cylinders. Appreciate any help.
Thanks
larry

Like Big-Guy_Small-Sled said there are enough Yamaha guys here that some will no doubt try to help you out once they read your thread!

In the meantime, welcome! Hope we hear lots more from you.

How many miles are on the sled, and does the sled idle well?? You said it starts good, but does it idle once warmed up?

It idled fine but didn't pick up well on the bottom end. Smoked a bunch and backfired until you got it warmed up. I think I got it figured out. Threw me for a loop. But seems the Idle air jet was plugged. The little one in the ventury. It was one the #1 cylinder. I guess it didn't have enough fuel to fire but enough to make the plug wet. But a least I have taken everything a part and it all looks good. The sled only has 2200 miles on it. I bought it from a guy that had it for his wife which I bought it for the same reason. This sled could last forever. Thanks for the input.

Yep, good luck. My viper backfired and did not idle well so I took the carbs apart and sprayed all the jets out which solved the problem.
