Has anyone seen or heard of an aftermarket headlight housing for the wedges? I need a little more light on the trail and am sick of over-running my light. My lens is clean and clear.

Right now I have this bulb in:
http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_ca...Id=&mmyId=
It's 80/100 watt and is just not enough. My buddy has a rev (dual lights) and it's great when he's behind me with his brights on.
Any body have any other ideas if nobody makes a better housing?

I run a Xenon boosted bulb like that in my XLT- good improvement over stock but that's about the max effectiveness you'll get out of the single headlight on the wedge. The design of the housing limits the amount of light it can project- it will never compare to the newer dual headlight designs. I have never heard of an aftermarket housing for the wedge that produced a significant improvement.

That's a bright bulb for the stock stator output. Do you run warmers? Any issues with the wires heating up?

I was looking to upgrade the bulb in my sled. There was a thread here somewhere I think last week. The guys were discussing the types of bulbs to run. I know in flashlights, Xenon bulbs are brighter than halogen. There is another bulb type that is supposed to be even brighter but the name escapes me for the moment.

Yeah Pic, you're probably thinking of Silverstars- they're bright but I have heard they have short lifespans. I run the Xenon bulb but stock wattage- 60/55 I think.

I run higher wattage handwarmers too. Never had any problems with high beam on and hand and thumb warmers on.

I've run the Silverstars in my car and was very disappointed in the short life they had.

Do you need a battery to run HID? I guess that would be an option too.

Yup Silver stars.

TripleB, do you notice any better visibilty with the Xenon? I'm with Hangman looking for something a bit brighter.

Hangman, your stator is 170 watts? If so, I should be able to go up in bulb wattage for my 280 watt stator.

Yeah, the Xenon boosted bulb definately throws a brighter, whiter light than the stock halogen bulb. Hiperf.com sells them for like $10, thats where I got mine.

For $10, I guess I can't go wrong.

Now, if the folks out east would just truck some of their unwanted snow back to my area, I could get some decent riding in.

170 sounds about right. I'm thinking about a higher wattage coil too just to get a little more output for things. I'm almost maxed out with everything on, lights, gauges, warmers, etc..

Can I run HID without a battery???

HID's need steady 12v dc. you would need a charging diode, and a battery. I put one on my snowblower, and it's sick! They're about 70 bucks a pair on Ebay.
