I am going to be honest and say that those are the best stock running boards for a mountain sled I have ever seen. I am not at all complaining about having to deal with snow buildup but it would be the one thing that I would change about my sled.

Screw this winter. ME has the least snow i think it's had (35" so far, last year this time we had 73"), and it is the warmest year so far since they started keeping records!
I'm really looking forward to seeing this sled friday, i cant wait to see what the dry weight is on it.

Nice to see carbon fiber being utilized! I realize that CF hikes up the price tag significantly, but it should at least be an option besides aftermarket. Look at other performance and recreational sports that use it... cycling, auto & motorcylce racing, golf clubs, kayak/canoes, etc.

Would be cool to see it under 400lbs!! I just hope Polaris is making smart weight savings and not just nonsense cutting.

^^^^^^From the looks so far the weight that's been dropped is all smart decisions. The belt drive system should have been taken one step further and gotten rid of the jack shaft to drop a few more lbs, but that is just personal opinion.
Hopefully the price tag isn't to crazy, I wouldn't mind having one, but the Switchback will probably hang around for a few more years.

Yep, hopefully they learned from the XP's mistakes. Disposable sled after 5-6 yrs. Weight savings is great, if the sled doesn't rattle apart after 5-6 seasons. Seems like Polaris is really catering to the mountain riders.

I don't agree that the XP will rattle apart after 5 or 6 seasons; 1) this is only the 5th season on the chassis 2) I haven't heard of the chassis rattling apart 3) the XP is a strong chassis, it's Doos quality control with the wear parts that is lacking.

How the hell do you have 4300 on your sled? Did you buy it new or did it have a few on it when you bought it?

Thats still unbelieveably light! And with ditching the chaincase set-up (possibly) they will have lost a lot of rotating weight. I remember hearing that losing 1lb of rotating weight is like losing 7lbs on stationary weight as far as acceleration and power is concerned.

Ya it's in the cards. Been talkin about longtracks for a while now and I think this year of no snow at home clinched the deal. We'll have to talk more as next season starts gettin closer. I'd like to say I'd make it once this year yet but I don't think work is gonna allow it. I'll be more prepared next year for sure.

Quote originally posted by sledneck1978 How the hell do you have 4300 on your sled? Did you buy it new or did it have a few on it when you bought it? I bought it from a guy in Owatonna that buys Bear Lodge's rental fleet every year. The sled was a guide/recovery sled with an average speed of 18 miles an hour on it. I was blown away with how clean it was when I bought it, it literally looked like it came off the showroom floor and I have the pics to prove it before I started changing things on it, and I believe I made it look better yet. All of the miles except 2 of them have been put on out west. Chad

I'm with you on that. I'm on the edge of my seat to find out if the switchies get beltdrive, even though I highly doubt it. Not sure if I'd like spending that kinda ging on an RMK that would only get 8-12 days of riding per season.
When hell freezes over I'll ride there too!
