We were riding in the Warren/Alvarado/Oslo ditch on Saturday.
Friends with kids, nice casual ride. All of a sudden a snowcross guy came up on us practicing for the race in that ditch in a few weeks. My buddy pointed at me and than pointed at racer as to say go get em!
I bit, took off rode about 8-10 lengths behind him for around 10 miles, it was hard, aggressive riding in my book. I stopped and pulled over to wait for my crew to rejoin, after the ten miles, while there I noticed I was sweating and breathing heavy!
Told my crew at the next stop and they gave me a hard time about it, saying you can't get a work out riding a sled! I was floored by this and said, than you have never rode hard!
Am I alone here? I know I'm old and out of shape, lol, but am I really the only one that considers a hard ditch bangin ride a work out?
Give me your thoughts

If you're not sweaty after riding, you're riding like a pansy.. (maybe not drenched, but at least wet under the pits and gotta un-zip the coat)

I usually lose weight in the winter from riding.

Yeah for sure! I'm not one of those who likes to just sit on the seat and watch scenery go by- I like to push it and ride to the full extent of my skill level. Muscling a 500 lb machine around certainly takes effort. Its a lot of fun but as I get older I sure feel it more! LOL!

If you cant find a way to get gas into your motor, your better off using something like body spray ( axe, or whatever ) because it has natural lubricants in the fluid.

A few years ago a sled mag had a comparison of sledding to other forms of exercise. it was a better work out than most exercises.

Interesting that they race in the ditch. Is that just some local guys givin er' or is it some type of sanctioned deal? You'd think there'd be a lot of liability issues with culverts and whatnot...

Actually it is a huge run with a huge showing every year!
They run from somewhere in Canada and end up somewhere in
central Mn! I don't know much about it, sorry, but I asked at the local
bar about the guy and they said there will be lots of them in the next few weeks
because they are getting ready for the annual run. He said it used to go to Mnpls but the snow conditions has changed the finish spot. Should be able to Google it.

XC racing, and Sno-X racing take a serious toll on the body. Snowmobiling seems to me like one of the best workouts you can get. It uses your legs, arms, back, lungs, neck, and even your abs, not to mention the split second deciding that your brain has to make.

That's really cool

Nothin against trail junkies but I laugh when people ask me why I put half the miles on than some...anyone can can sit on their butt's and log 200+ in a day. 70 miles of hard ditchbangin is what's gonna put hair on your chest.
