Well my beloved 97 cavalier just broke its front crossmember thanks to age, winters, and NYS salt.. RUST! So instead of fixing it I determined it was time to add another new vehicle to my 'collection'.. Divorce present to myself After lots of research and my needs to fill.. I went with a 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco.. 6 speed manual. Blue topaz with black interior. I ordered fog lights and had them add them.. picked it up today. Love it! the thing makes phone calls from my phone from the steering wheel, onstar, satallite radio.. all kinds of stuff.. pretty cool and CRAZY high MPG. Lots of cool technology Here is the link at GM's website http://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=CWvzx...adurl=http://clickserve.dartsearch.net/link/click%3Flid%3D43000000363104239%26ds_s_kwgid%3D58000000007859218%26ds_e_adid%3D7430815217%26ds_e_matchtype%3Dsearch%26ds_url_v%3D2&rct=j&q=chevy%20cruze%20eco&cad=rja I have had great luck with all my GM vehicles.. I drive them till over 200k and leave them at the junk yard.. so, this is the next up.. oh if you are wondering the msrp on this is about $20,400 american and there are not many deals on them as they are the top of their class and best selling vehicle in America right now. I am averaging 41 mpg all day today and have yet to hit an expressway. It has the turbo 1.4L motor. So now I have my Z71, Cruze, Cavalier (soon to be sold), 71 hot rod corvette, snowmobile, and the two motorcycles.. a vehicle for all conditions

I'm not a huge fan of cars like these, but the Cruze is actually a really nice car. If i had to drive this type of vehicle the cruze would be one of my first choices. American cars are starting to come around again. You should check out the world touring car championship WTCC racing series, ever since the cruze was introduced it just blows all the competition out of the water. BMW used to dominate that series.

The seat height is adjustable, you can make them tall or low. At least in my car they are.
Thanks guys! Taking it on a trip this weekend in busy city traffic a ways away :) So far I am very surprised in this car, good surprised

I'm all for the high mpg cars. I don't know if I'd ever actually buy one for myself just because I need my gas guzzler truck for work. My best friend has a diesel jetta and that thing gets over 40 all day long. Prolly closer to 50 on all hwy miles. Nice rig Matt!

6 speed, turbo charged, its body is more aerodynamically designed as well. Also the top gears 4, 5, 6, are much taller for highway cruising. Light weight, small displacement 1.4ltr turbo. Pretty impressive car really. I drove the baseline with an auto. Very nice car for getting around. Its basically a safer cooler version of the old Honda CRX. GOOD STUFF!!

Cool. I'm digging the idea of 40 mpg.
I wonder how those tires are in the winter. Not that it would matter, since I see you have green grass in your yard. Ha ha. Same here, except our grass is brown.

Wow, it's only $3.25ish here.
I'm slowly on the search for a Jetta TDI. A 7-10 year old car, that gets 50 mpg, and can be over 200 HP, and run for 300k no prob. I like the sound of that!
But I am likin your Eco too!

Now at this point you might be asking yourself "why do I want a 14y/o Taurus." The answer to this is because its awesome. There is simply no better explanation. This car eats rocks and s**ts lightning bolts.

Yep you nailed the eco difference.. the eco model also has a front fascia that closes up at highway speeds for more aerodynamics. There is a neat video showing wind tunnel testing on youtube but I can't find it.
Well I just drove it down to NYC,, Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island, around the outskirts of Manhatten, up north an hr, then back over to here.. about 600 miles total. I took two pictures with my cell phone

I have been looking at trading my Avalanche lately and wanting a new pickup. I used to kind of make fun of little cars, but a small car is definitely not out of the question for me anymore either. I could handle getting 40-50 instead of 16-20.

Don't forget.. I have a 04 extended Z71 sitting here too that I bought new.. has 65,000 miles on it. I understand the usefullness of a truck, but I am not going to drive a truck around every day to cart just my ass around. I only use the truck when I need it for 4x4 or pulling or its bed. I put 1000 miles on this car in the last 7 days alone ha!

Now, why can't they make something with AWD, a little more ground clearance, and an appreciable towing capacity in an "Eco"? I'm not even talking full size, but maybe something like a Traverse, Equinox, or Ford Edge.

Well as you know.. AWD, more ground clearance, and towing capacity hurt MPG. They do have a malibu in an 'eco' model now.
