OH, and i didnt mention... The next day, we went to the dealer, picked up 10 exhaust springs, and a 100 pack of zipties...
We then pieced the hood back together, and installed about 75 of those zipties by drilling holes on each side of the cracks, and stitching them together. It actually held up all season, although the hood tended to fold when you opened it.
Got a lot of looks on the trail

A mountain lion roaming the prairie found a bull, killed it and ate the entire bull. With a heavy belly, unable to walk, the lion laid in the tall grass moaning and roaring. Soon a hunter, attracted by the roaring, shot and killed the lion.
Moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut!

Why didn't you use pop rivits and steel backing? That way the hood would stay stiff, the only problem with that is you have to have a pop rivet gun, and bend the steel backing to the shape of the hood.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.

Yeah, that does look like an attic, but why is that sled in there along w/a PWC?! What's up w/the white stuff all over the left side of the helmet visor? Stress marks? Also, where are the pics of your sled after the accident? Glad to know both of you weren't hurt.

It was a 2 story garage. The bottom side you could drive 4 cars in, and the top side had a 7ft wide door, where we stored all our toys. It was built into a hill, so the 2nd story was ground level, as well as the bottom level where cars were parked. Although you cant see it in the pic, we also had a 21hp Kubota tractor with a bucket loader and backhoe parked in the UPSTAIRS of the garage as well
Yes, the machine to the right was a 1999 Polaris SLX 1050cc jetski.
The white stuff was snow / ice that got shoved between the layers of the shield.
That summer we ordered a new hood, decals, bumper, windshield. Once we put those on, you could never tell it was wrecked, looked good as new.
Also, my sled (98 XC600) only received one bent trailing arm, which we never repaired since it was only tweaked about an inch, it was just barely touching the chassis.

You might want to consider replacing that trailing-arm. It doesn't matter if it's tweaked an inch or 5 inches in. Always replace them, if you have the time and money. A friend of mine didn't replace his when he bent in in about 2 inches, then hit a jump with me 1 night and took out his primary and secondary clutch. The trailing arm snaped, went through the belly pan, into the clutches, and broke the primary and secondary all to hell. It wasen't a good deal, so I recommend you should look into finding a takeoff arm, or anything to maybe reinforce it if you don't have the cash. Just a recommendation.

Did a pretty good job on the hood. The only better one I have ever seen was a friend of mine that rolled his 98 700 RMK and the hood just exploded. The biggest part left fron the hood was the guages. The rest of the hood we took home in the back compartment of our sleds. The sled bounced up side down like a ball. The funny part was the guy bought a brand new hood and fixed everything all up and on his first ride after the new hood he rolled it again and smashed the hood again. He was done for the year after that. Riley

xcracer440 i wud have to sorta agree and disagree wit your statement. we ride with a guy that has a 96 storm i believe and he smacked a tree while jumpin and bent the trailin arm prolly a good 2inches. he bent it back and rewelded it and it has held up for 2 years. but i do agree if u do have the money i wud lookin into gettin a new one if possible. but if its not that bad just check on it all the time and if it gets worse replace it.

^ Yeah, but that guy re-welded his t-arm. Just bending it back and re-welding are 2 VERY different things.
