I have a 2002 Indy 500 no studs. Some people say that I need to put at lease 96 studs in the track. I will do most of my riding on trails, with a lot of lake crossing.

Yes, 96 studs would do wonders for your traction on ice and near-ice hardpack. Putting them in the middle section would be the best.

Polarisman has a good pattern for studs, ask him NICELY and he'll let u see. Its on one of the threads, but I dont know. They r a BIT benifet for your area.

I agree, it sounds like 96 will be a good number of studs for that machine, and the type of riding you do.

I doubt that you will regret the purchase, once you ride with them. It helps with traction so much, both acceleration and braking.

I agree 96 studs would be a great number.

I have 96 studs on my Indy 500 and it's night and day over how it stuck to the trail before. If you want to be hooked up and confident in icy corners get studs. Otherwise, please slow the f___ down when you enter a corner. I may be coming the other way.

lol.. i got alot more studs then that. The only disadvantage I have found (besides a track rip and pull out) is i can't slide around corners anymore.. and maybe some top end lost

I had 144 in my 500. I am now thinking that was way too many. It has tons of traction but it was very difficult to get it to turn like I wanted. I wouldn't put studs on the outside either. Thats where all my pull-throughs are. I think 96 would be plenty
