As long as you take proper care of it you will get your moneys worth out of any Polaris, Ski-Doo, or Yamaha. But i would stay away from them old triples by Polaris.
But them Cats... Thats a different story, i dont mean to bash on them they make hell of a sled but ride Cats at your own risk.

yes the 04 and more so the 05 fcats are a great sled, cant go wrong but the most proven engine hands down is the 488 fuji twin.

ill agree with the indy 500, but engine wise, i would say the Kohler 10 horse engine has been my most reliable never been rebuilt, and it was made in '75

I have a 76 Arctic cat jag 280 and its starts every time, havent had a single problem, I figure theres no problems because its a small and simplistic engine and it sbeen an all around great sled.
Everybody is entitled to their own opinions, Just mine are always right.

Dont worry matt, he just means ride them at you own risk because they might rip your arms off or work totaly fine. Or that is what he better of meant.

The fuji motors for sure....lol our 90 sport 340 fan has 6800mi. We've never done anything to the carbs or anything and it fires up and runs strong every year. Slowly....but hey better than my 2000 xc440sp which had 3 meltdowns within 500 mi. Now if I could talk my dad into having the clutches gone thru so it goes faster than 60 downhill...
SIC ass 02 PRO-X 440 with a crankshop ported 800 motor, CS twin pipes, VF 3 reeds, Kickass filters, Boss Seat, 1.65" track, USI skis, SNOPRO bars, big tank, all blacked out....WHAT YOU GOT???? (theres pix of it in my profile)

2 stroke engines are all the same you never know when they will blow up, Any sled would be of equal reliability to me. Any brand any class, run them with good oil , grease em put some good gas in and i dont see why it shouldnt hold together.

Maybe you have the magic touch. Every AC I've deatl with (which I admit hasn't been many) has had problems staying running. Only problem I've ever had with our Yamaha was the crank seal went out, but thats because the previous owner installed it incorrectly. My vote stays as Yamaha as the most reliable and AC as the least reliable

A/C make fine machines. Suzuki mills under the hood....can't go wrong considering they are one of the bigger engine makers. The efi system is proven as well as the aws. I don't own nor have I ever owned a cat but my buddy has over 6000 miles on a pantera and the thing rocks. Sounds like a real weapon and he's never split the cases or touched the engine. How can artic cat suck or even come in last place. OH I forgot.... this is kind of a polaris forum right.
Yamaha all the way!!!!!!

I guess the truth detector in the responses is how sensitive people get to honest responses from others.
I was just talking with my sled shop the other day(not a dealer for any brand). He's raced ski-doo for 30 years. He says he finds ski-doos and polaris similar overall, when not looking at particular models. Cats are funny though he said. The cat riders tend to be very brand loyal, they would keep breaking and blowin up, and they would run right out and buy a new cat.
Personally, the brand I find on the side of the trail is cat 80% of the time.

mackinsaw Thinks it's mighty convient for the neighbor to wait untill there's snow on the ground and to ask me if I would do him a massive favour and cut his firewood for the winter for money as he is incapable. Dang I got some work cut out for the next few days.

Does that make my parents stupid for having a mercury sable blow up at 120,000 miles and then go buy a new one the next week?
Thats a good one... cat riders tend to be very brand loyal...
But in this thread, all I am reading is other brand lovers bashing cat.. like yourself..
For some reason you think that "Cat" riders are different then other riders. Thats a good one. I am a non biased rider that will ride anything and likes everything. Although I do "prefer" certain brands over another for various reasons. But I have never heard that a brand makes you different then everyone else. How stupid.
I just call it like I see it.
