I have and currently own one of each brand and have found that properly cared for, all the brands seem to be very reiable. I will say however that the cat has seen the most shop time, but it has never left me on the side of the trail. So whatever you have or are buying, just take care of it and hopefully no towing will be required.

Does that make my parents stupid for having a mercury sable blow up at 120,000 miles and then go buy a new one the next week?

Thats a good one... cat riders tend to be very brand loyal...
But in this thread, all I am reading is other brand lovers bashing cat.. like yourself..
For some reason you think that "Cat" riders are different then other riders. Thats a good one. I am a non biased rider that will ride anything and likes everything. Although I do "prefer" certain brands over another for various reasons. But I have never heard that a brand makes you different then everyone else. How stupid.
I just call it like I see it.

Welcome to the forum

Sound a little sensitive matt...It's agood thing you aren't biased, you might call somebody stupid reacting to a quote attributed to another person.

I too don't consider myself brand loyal, but many people are, regardless of brand.

BTW, I just finished helping my neigbor this evening replace the track on his artic cat, blew apart, dry rot I guess. It's blown axles, chain cases, parts have fell off, but it's about part for course considering the beating he's given it and the level of maintenance it's had.

PS. Your parents sound smart, don't call them stupid.

I wasn't calling my parents stupid. And I don't care if what you said wasn't addressed towards me. This is a public topic. So, whatever you say, you must realize that other people are reading it. And what your insuating towards cat owners is alot different then saying what you are about the machines. I don't give a rats a$$ what you say about cat, but when your talking about the people driving them, I do.

I didn't say anything. The repair shop did. Riders are riders, I'd like to think we all have that in common here.

Cat riders are the most sensitive and wonderful people in the whole world. Not different than anyone, just more charming and with great reading comprehension too.

Luv ya Cat riders, "..Whatever I say.."

PS. Don't forget to flame Parasitic_Whim, I think you missed him, he didn't swoon over arctic cats either.

All this, and I'm still looking to snow check a Turbo Touring....

well, at least your all combined in one area instead of all over the forum...

I don't judge a brand because of a few bad ones I heard about..
I don't judge a person because of what brand they ride..

And I don't judge a person by what they type on this forum..

Type what you want about what you want, others read this and you are the one that recieves zero respect in the end from other members.. I am figuring this out. And for that, I am not going to continue bickering with you few guys.. Type away

The Fuji 488s, Fuji 580, Rotax 583, Rotax 503, Rotax 368, Yamaha 485 fan are in my opinion the most reliable engines made since the late 80s. They are time tested bullet proof motors that may not crank gobs of hp but they just don't stop running.

Please don't take this as basking AC. I did not list an AC because that is the brand I've ridden the least and did not want to state a half-truth or rumor based on something I haven't ridden firsthand.

That is not going to leave me standed anywere.

Not tryin to bash Polaris, Just sayin I work at a shop and we get about 5 times more of them compared to any other sled, Right now we have 6 in the shop and about 11 sitten out side and like 2 Yammis, 1 ski-doo, and 2 Arctic Cats. So I have to say Ski-Doo are the most reliable IMO.

Im not brand loyal.. all take what ever runs im not to picky how ever. I would have to say polaris for realibilty.. Arctic cat does alot changes or regrouping while polaris keeps it mostly simple and interchangable over the past few yrs. Ski-doo spent alot of time just keeping with there good platform they had while yamaha i just dont no about. I see many polairs sleds out there also heard polaris sales went up over the past few yrs. I've grew up on ski-doo's i will always ride one however they do have there problems im not riding polaris. As far as cat goes im not crappin on them however i dont think i will ride one. I've seen many good cats however heard alot from friend who ride them. I noticed there sleds will be down and give them crap all winter but they are stubborn an content on keepin cats an will no try another brand. I no im probly makin no sence right now it late im tired im ranting about something i forgot what the whole topic was again. As far as i no its only as reliable as u make it. take care of it service it and u may run it 17,000 miles but depending on how well its built or that strength of the parts it could go at anytime. just my boring ole 2 cents..

Any fuji engine, 340, 400, 500, 600, 650 and so on. i was out this weekend on my 400 and i was constantly runnin 8000+rpm and no problems at all. yamahas 485 fan is also bullet proof and reliable, then again all yami's are as reliable as gravity.

The Indy 500 is the best sled ever made! No one else can claim the sales of the 500 and still being sold, Pilot build 1988 white 500`s to the edge 500 style 2005 17 yrs!

i'd trust you more then anybody on here, def not a biased opinion, almost anything will go if well cared for. IMO cats tend to have the most problems with polaris, yamaha and doo having issues still just not as many. The truth to it is that anything will break and all man-made machines suck
