Ok, gotcha. I just ordered some from www.johnmaster.net. Ridiculously good service and very helpful. They told me exactly what I needed based on my riding type and vehicle.
Hopefully their carbides are as good as their service.

Does anyone have a gearing set-up for a 94 XCR 440SP. I have to replace both gears, chain and the tensioner on my boys sled. Right now it has 21;39. I thought if some one has a good set up since I have to buy everything anyway. Or is stock the best way to go. The engine is in a 91 XC 400 chassie.

stock was a good combo. You could drop 1 tooth on top for a little more snap.

Way too far back. I am thinging about junking the 50/36s. Sled ran way better with the R8. I am getting full shift out as you can see how far the button ran up it. I also can see that the spider on the pri is going out as far as it can. SO I am getting full shift out. Either that or I need a stronger secondary spring???
Anyone want to buy a slightly used HSP 50/36s. It has a mark through the coating on the inside. I tried it with the roller. Other than that it is mint. Has 100 miles on it at the most. A few lake runs.

basically swapped everything over to a chassis in better condition, and put an xtra 10 on it. The other things i changed were plastic skis, added a skid plate, got the chrome windshield, my old red one got wrecked. I want to get another red windshield though, I like how they look better.

Putting this up to the top, good to see the regulars keeping this alive. I haven't touched my sled yet but it doesn't need anything other than a carb cleaning and wash & grease before the season starts. Hopefully get around to trying the roller setup this year.

Messed with the T-flow, carbs, added some chain lube, took ice picks out, put trail studs in. Took secondary apart. not sure if I am going to use 50/36s, R-8 or buy a R49. Might get new secondary spring.

I or tnmemr havn't been able to find a 34X. Sounds like new is the only option. I was going to buy a 34x from hsp but jeremy said the helix was for snox tracks, don't work too well on the trail.

I have used a epi orange with an r8 or a polaris blue. WOrks well. Not sure how a progressive will work. Only thing to do is try it.

I went with the TEAM secondary, 66/44-.46, Red/Blue with 3 delrin washers and I like the set-up. I still watch for a 34s or 34x but I'm in no hurry. If we get the snow, I have a few things I'm going to try/change.

I was going over the old girl today. looking at the belt noticed a small crack on the inside of a groove. I turned it inside out and flexed it, bam, it tore throurh the inner strings, So I did it in another spot. Most of the strings snaped, cracked and tore. I had 2 grooves that ripped through the rubber, only thing that is holding it together is the outer 1/8" at most layer of rubber and strings. Make sure you guys check your belts. Mine was over 1 3/8" thick SO I had alot of life left in it. Belt is probley around 3 years old. Had alot of 90 mph 1 mile runs on the lake last year and has been raced at the my clubs radar runs. So maybe it was ready for a new one.

Hi i have a 98 xcr 440 and just bought a 2000 xcsp 440 secondary clutch for it. The clutch is a little different, instead of buttons it has rollers that the helix rides on and its not a team clutch. I was just wondering if any one knows a good set up for it, right now it has a r8 helix and a yellow spring.

Hey Everyone, I am new to the forum since I just picked up a 98 XCR 440. I always loved them since I have a 440 fetish. (Even though I am a Ski-Doo guy) I was going to start building my own XCR for a second sled for tuning/education/testing (since I have my MXZ for main trail riding) when this one showed up locally for sale. Cosmetically it needs the seat recovered, has a crack in the cowling, no gas tank cover, and a previous owner installed a backrest so there are a couple holes in the tunnel. It seams to run good, but it seams like it has crappy gas in it right now and needs a good cleaning of the carbs, ves, etc. I have already started buying some "enhancements" for it from all the good info.
Here is a pic of it:
So far on the performance list/maintainence is the following:
- Compression Check
- Remove old Gas
- Clean carbs
- Rebuild Fuel Pump
- Clean VES and inspect Bellows/replace gaskets
- Clean/Inspect/Shim clutches
- HSP 36S Helix
- HSP White Primary and secondary spring
- HSP Boost Bottle
- 49.5g weights
- 350 Main jets
- 159 P-4 Needle Jets
- VF3 Reeds
- Flared Black/checkered Cobra windshield
- Purple Slides/idler wheel covers

Hey nice sled Im also a new member but I have had my 97 xcr 440 race sled (it real just a 98) for 4 yrs now. Recently I had to set one of the motor mounts back into place and beef it up a little. I also got some used ski doo precision skis today and used 2000 xcxp secondary clutch last week which I think was an upgrade. I have also done some other little add ons most of which I fab myself.
Here are some pics of it.
this is what i did to hold the motor mount after i got it back in place
Things that i have add
-rear suspension hangers
-4in handle bar risers
-1 in track with 96 studs
-k$n filters
-precision skis
-jetting
-clutching
-gearing 21:40
-gas rack
-slp boost bottle
Wish list for before snow
-Build a custom tunnel
-rebuild all the shocks and new springs
- gearing 19:43 (just for spring riding in the mts)

How do you stitch up the windshield like that. I broke one last year and i use it for when im playing around but i just used duct tape to hold it together which doesnt work very good.
