Anyone know the lighting coil output on the '98 XCR 440? I've seen 200 watts and 280 watts both measured at 4000 rpm. Which is it?

I just bought a new Polaris one from the dealer. It was around $50. They're still availble.

It is a 440, and it was only made for 1 year I think. Here's the spec page: http://polarisman.com/site/DisplayModel....&Year=1997I had to get new front shocks for mine since I had a mismatched pair. Runs like a champ though! I'm struggling to find parts for it. Anyone know what spark plug this bad boy uses? Here's some pics:

On the 97 I have it has a line coming out of the top of the oil tank that goes to the bottom of the motor on the clutch side. Here is a pic

I'll be working on patching up my new XC440 some this week, so I'll let you guys know how it goes. I'm most curious to see how the shocks I got work, or even if they work. Then I'll be checking out the problems I found with my idler wheels (one of the inside ones is missing its bearing and therefore not really even on, and the front outer one is super loose, possibly broken somehow). Once that's done, I'll be making my air filters out of the seat cushion foam I got at Walmart for $5. And finally getting the body all sexed up (or just not so broken looking).
Here's a pic of the front with the current, mismatched shocks on:

have fun tuning that....They are a pain and you are going to suck in warm air into the engine which robs hp.

How will I be sucking in warm air? The foam is going to be the same temperature, no matter the density, so it will have no effect on the temperature of the air.
My only problem might be getting the correct amount of air through the filter since it is a little more dense than OEM, but I figured I'd keep shaving it thinner and thinner until she runs.
Anything is better than what's on there now, which is essentially nothing. The main filter has two 1 inch diameter holes in it; the filter inside the air box is missing, and the one on top of the hood is ripped in half.
I might even just make the one for inside the airbox. We'll see how it goes. If I can't get it to go and I have to get an OEM filter, I'm only out like $9 for the foam anyways! :)

So you are not making individual pod style filters? I see, your just making the top filter, it doesn't need to be dense at all, very little dust/dirt in the winter while riding.

I'm struggling getting my front shocks off. They were mismatched, and the one the previous owner put on was a lot shorter. I got 3 out of the 4 nuts off so far and the two top bolts out. I think the shorter shock was pulling up on the sway bar so much, it was making it impossible to pull the bolts out on the other side. Once I took the top bolt out of the short shock, the whole front suspension assembly dropper about an inch lower than it was before!
So progress was made, albeit slowly!

Does anyone think I'll be able to swap an XCSP seat onto mine? I can't find a decent seat for mine but ran across a XCSP someone was parting out, the XCSP is an '01.

The gas tank may be different on the Gen II sleds. You can swap them but will need the tank, seat, brackets, fasteners, etc. If you are patient, and checkout ebay, HCS, and some other sled sites you can find a seat. How bad is yours? I think I have one off a 97 XCR 440 but it isn't perfect.
