I just bought a 04 summit 600, and last weekend when I was riding, I was flooring it across a lake and it kept bogging out. I looked at the tach, and it kept hitting the rev limiter. My question is , is this normal for this to happen? And is this going to hurt any thing? Thanks DiabloWRX

Well, I'll tell you this, the only rev limitter a sled has is the clutches. I'd guess either a fouled plug or the clutching is messed up.

Cause I don't give a rats about who took second or 12th for that matter your just the next loser in a long line of many losers.

There is a rev limiter on Ski Doo's. It's 8500rpm. Sounds like your cluthing is off. What are your clickers set at? If there at 6 set them down to 3. Each number will drop top rpm's on a stock sled by 200.

Well, the RPM's were at 8000 or just a little higher. So im guessing that it is just normal after what you all say. I noticed that if i backed out of the throttle just a hair, it would not hit the rev limiter and would just keep running at a steddy RPM. I also would get more speed too. Thanks for your help.

Triple650Indy, the rev limiter is built into the MPEM moduel that skidoo has been using since 1999.

Ski-doo's have a rev limiter... i thought it was set closer to 9k+ rpms.. Anyhow if you hit the rev limiter you're well out of the power range (the way it works is the computer will delay or retard the spark just like on a 4-stroke dirt bike)... Sounds like a carb issue to me...dirty or restricted main jet, jeted to lean, float too low, DPM hose missing, loose or cracked....but it could also be bad reeds and check your carb botts (especially since you've got an 04)...The 04's also had flaky rings (which probably isn't your issue since you say it runs fine if you just back off from wfo)...
