Kind of a stupid write up in some peoples eyes, but to others, gives them an idea

I bead blasted my can while I had it out so I could paint it when I was done.

1. Drill out all the rivits
2. Order muffler fiberglass (got mine on ebay for like 8$ shipped, its ment for motorcycles)

3. Cut into 3 equal sheets (or 2 for you twin boys)
4. Wrap them around the expandable metal and insert
5. Insert rivits (mine were aluminum bought that quality farm and fleet)

Presto.. you got a new can again. I have heard every 3,000 miles the fiberglass wears out and it needs changed. I don't know if that is true or not but for 8 bucks and drilling out some cheap rivits, what the heck.

I think the new cans use steel wool so they don't wear out (black magic does I think)

The glass I bought was about 1/4" thick (I think).. so I just went around enough times to make it a snug fit. If my memory serves me correctly it was 2 times around

It was an auction like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/10-x-36-MOTORCYCLE-EXHAUST-MUFFLER-FIBERGLASS-PACKING_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34284QQihZ004QQitemZ140046757963QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

My sled dealer was giving me crap about ordering some.. so I spent less then 10 bucks and got that stuff. I forgot what size I got. Ebay only keeps auctions on file for the last 30 days in my history.

Here is what the can looked like before I started. Inside.. 50% of the fiberglass was GONE.. burnt up over the years
