	I have a 99 Polaris XC700 . I am trying to hook up a 12V plugin for my GPS. How do i test for a hot wire . I used a volt meater but I could not get a reading .Un hooked the yellow wire off the regulator and started up the sled to test and the low beams burnt out Will the voltage change dammage my GPS? 	I'm in the same situation. I'd like to hook up my new GPS on the sled, but I need a place to hook it to. I think I remember reading somewhere that you have to have some sort of voltage converter to run 12V DC items from the sleds electrical system. I know there is a guy that makes a little box and sells them here and on Hardcore Sledder for $35.00 shipped. All you do is wire it in and add a 12V outlet. I was going to order one, but I haven't done any other research about the situation yet. I want to know that I NEED it before I order it. Not so long ago, a deranged, ranting person's audience was limited to how many people happened to be on the same street. The Internet, however, has certainly allowed "crazy" to go global... 	your right.. you need a converter box to convert the AC voltage of our sleds to DC for the GPS, unless the GPS is AC.. don't hook DC accessories up to AC unless you have a deep pocket to keep replacing them.. Rating: 0 Quick Edit Full Edit

	Your GPS is designed to run off of DC, Your snowmobile produces AC.... Unless you have a rectifier built into the stock wiring you are going to have to get DC somehow. Polaris does have a 12v DC powerpoint/lighter kit designed for their sleds. I forgot the part number. I installed one on my 96 xlt. The kit included a rectifier, lighter jack, basic wire harness, and capacitor. Call your dealer and ask them to research it for you. If I remember right the kit cost around 55 dollars. It was a simple and straight forward bolt in without any wire cutting and splicing.
