Broke my start chord yesterday on the moutain. Ended up having to pull it to the truck.

Is there a way to bypass that to get it stared?

and How big of a process is it to repair the broken rope(still have the handle)

Thnx GR

There is a emergency starting strap included in the tool kit on most sleds. It is a 1" wide nylon strap the you wrap around the primary clutch and pull start it. Kinda like an old lawn mower.

Does it just wrap the primary and then yank it?

I always carry a small piece of rope for exactly that. Wrap it around the primary counter-clockwise, making sure not to stick the ends into the clutch... 2-3 wraps, pull straight up, do NOT wrap it around your hand! You don't want to take too many wraps, you want to be able to get all the rope (or strap) away from the clutch when you pull sharply.

If it starts easily with the recoil starter, it will start easily using the primary clutch. Make sure you don't have any clothing or long hair dangling that could get into the clutch...

One thing you need to look at.
Broken starter rope on Polaris twin is well known for taking out the water pump belt.
Make sure you check this before you go ride or it might just get expensive on you.

It's right behind your recoil starter assy.
Here's a link to a micro fiche where you can see the detail:
