Will a one-inch lug with studs fit on a '89 Indy 500 without issues for the heat exchanger?
The track that is on it is a 3/4 no studs, but there is evidence of damage, maybe from a different track with studs?

Will tickle the exchanger up front when you get the track spinnin up. There isnt much room up there between exchanger and the track.
I would go with a 3/4". My 90 650 Yoko track fell apart and I went with the 3/4 Campolast and it hooks up nice. Had studs in th e original 3/4" and it did shave away some meat on the exchanger up front. 1" track would be closer yet, I believe the studs for a 3/4" are .81-.89" tall.

It's a buddy's sled.
He bought a used 1 inch with studs, and I refuse to put it together, only to have it smoke the motor I just rebuilt for him, or take it apart again.

Would like a definitive answer yes or no, if that's possible.
Thanks.
