89 indy need to blow in tank to get started started by 01xcsp600

ok i have a 89 indy 500 that if i let sit for about 3 weeks i cant get it started untill i blow in the gas tank to get the gas up to the carbs then runs mint have no problems if it sits even a week or 2 but if it sits longer i have to do that. any ideas? is the fuel pump to weak and should replace it?

Fuel pump is where I'd start sounds like it loses it's prime.

you probably have a sticky check valve in the fuel pump but,
you can always just shut the fuel valve off if it will
be sitting for a long time.

How did you come up with the idea to blow in the tank to get it to run in the first place?

check valve inside the fuel tank needs to be replaced. take a coat hanger and fish out the fuel line and check valve and replace.
