One of my local dealers told me you can't replace the spark plug wires and boots because cat only sells them with the coil assemblies. BS!
I went to another dealer and got wires and boots.
Wire - 1.99/foot
Boots - 5.99/each
My dealer had the OEM NGK stuff.
I have a 96 ZRT 600 so 3 wires, 2 coils
I purchased (2) 2 foot pieces and (1) 3 foot piece and they worked great. I just trimmed a few inches off the 3 foot piece.
First, stick the wire into the spark plug boot, push in and thread it on. Righty tighty lefty loosey. I didn't take a picture of that because if you need a picture for that you should'nt be doing this haha.
Next, unscrew your old wires. Keep the little plastic sheild that goes over the end into the coil.
Next, Put that plastic shield on your new wire(s).Take off your coil(s) and push/turn in the new wire into the hole(s).
Slide the plastic shield over it and done. New plug boots and wires for a cost around 32 bucks. I put a sock on my hand to twist in the wires hard (see picture

).
You might be able to do this for less than 32$ if you check NAPA or even modify some automotive plugs you can get for 12 bucks. But I wanted OEM and wanted to make sure I had the right wire O.D. Heck I could have bought some used coils on ebay that came with wires and plug boots for the price I got into these new wires/boots but I could end up getting the bad shape wires I had. My center cylinder wire was arcing on the cylinder head bolts!
You could also use some dielectric grease but I didn't feel like it, I didn't think it was necessary as they are sealed up good the way they are designed. I am going to put silicone around where that plastic sheild connects to the coils just to be safe. And also going to put a little zip tie where the wires go into the spark plug boots to be safe and prevent against pull out.
