Did we change the gear back? Think we should if we didn't. Maybe go up one tooth on top.

I changed the gear back to stock when we had the chain case apart.

Shouldn't I still be running close with it?

Yea don't worry me and brendan have things planned that will make some people think twice about lining up with me. I should be beating that xcr 440 by a little bit!

What do you want to get for top speed? 100? SLap those pipes on from brendans just to see how it performs. Only a few days left of riding..why not try it out at least? Jet it fat.

in my opinion you need pipes to get the job done, thats were all the power is coming from and even the best clutching in the world wont make it alot faster if you dont have the power to play with.
I know your scared of popping it but man, i wind mine right up run it hard and even leaned it out a tad and i'm up to 3300 miles, still stock build (internals) If you just listen to your motor and pay attention to your jetting you will never have a issue with pipes.

Hello Everyone!

I am new to the forum and am hoping you all can help me! I was cranking down the road on my 96 XLT(racing my hubby's Ultra) and about 110 when the belt shredded. I pulled over and we changed the belt but had a loss of power... upon quick inspection noticed that the exhaust on the 1st cylind. (it is piped) was not not producing any heat and the other two were hotter than can be. We have spark and when the pistons are moving well. Any suggestions where to go from here?

FYI - It was rebuilt before this season, bored out and new pistons and new oil injectors.

On a side note I did also notice that my fuel pump is not bolted on any longer... weird... just haning by the hose... and there is a little fuel spilled out around the area... could there be (grasping at straws here) an issue with gas getting all the way to that 1st cyl?

Thanks a TON!

That is the thing I don't want to have to jet every 10 degrees!

by dropping in that smaller top sprocket it will make you quicker in acceleration, and chances are your top speed will be about the same.

I am have to keep asking what rpms are you running for wide open?

Where can I get a smaller sprocket for my 1989 650?, I have been wanting to drop a tooth or two. I have the stock in right now.

Thanks!

you dont have to change every 10 degree. Once you get it were you want it you just watch how long you hold the fun flipper open. i have mine now alittle on the lean side, all i have to do to richen it up is move the clip on the needles, takes 10 min to do all three and your good to go.
The performance gain is MORE then work the time to make adjustments. I guarentee it!!!

should need to becuase of the bigger bore and needing more fuel, but do a jet check to see before you just start swaping around and wasteing time.

Am I gonna hurt anything if I let my fresh rebuilt motor in my Storm sit for the summer, as I dont think I will be able to get enough miles on it to properly break it in before we run outta snow.
