Hey guy's, I'm a Polaris guy myself but was looking around in some old barns on my inlaws farm, and found this.
Its a 1971 Arctic Cat Panther 399 Axial Flow, has 525 miles on it. Talked w/my father in-law, he said it hasn't ran in over 20 years, but when he put it up there it did run. I got it down yesterday and into my barn, after cleaning out mice turds and other crap from the seat, inside the carb and under the hood, I pulled the plugs, gave them a good cleaning, poured a little gas down the holes, pulled it once and it fired, pulled it 3 times and it ran!! not under its own power mind you, but with some work to the carbs, lines and tank, I can't see why not. I cleaned up the hood a little and its not in bad shape at all.
Not bad for a hidden treasure.

That must have been a thrill for ya, it's always fun to find old sleds. I remember when I saw my TX in a barn as the old man pulled it down, damn I was excited.
I don't understand how a person can just stop snowmobiling and put their sled up in the barn and forget about it.
Run what ya brung

What a Sweet Find, I would powerwash the whole deal, wax the hood up, then during the summer take a close looks at all the parts, see what needs replacin, if any parts at all.....
Great find

Damn that's sweet! I had one just like it. Exactly! For the day, that was a screeming machine. That 399 JLO just whistles once you get it up around 60 miles per hour. You should have lots of fun with it. If you ever want to consider selling it, I may be in the market for one. I may also consider doing a trade for one of my newer/old sleds.

jumps? haa I hope he is kidding..
Thats awesome!!!!!!
I would love to have the old 76 jag my dad sold this year that was my first sled.. that thing needed alot of work however.
I hope to have a house soon and a garage.. I will then pick up a vintage sled and redo it.. and then trailer it to all the vintage rides I can find!!!!
My uncle has a 70's polaris 500 tripple free air that has sat in the weeds for 15-20 years.. Its SHOT.. but I know that I am good enough to redo the whole thing. It will cost some money to redo and alot of online parts searching but imagine having a old hard to find sled like that in the barn... I better get it out of the weeds this summer and get an idea of what I am up against. I will try to get pictures of it this weekend and post some pictures on here.. maybe someone can give me an idea. I am not a polaris brain
