I am looking to get a set of triple pipes for my 96 XLT SP, here are my choices.....Used set of Decker ceramic pipes or a brand new set of DG performance pipes. The Decker pipes don't have any head flanges with them so I would have to purchase those also. Please let me know fairly quick as they are on E-bay. Thanks guys!

1) you need to make sure they're for the X12 chassis, it has taller shock towers and as a result, needs a different set of pipes all together.
2) I would go with the DGs, as they are brand new.
Just and FYI, SLP pipes were the pipes known to make this motor scream!

deckers were good pipes in there days for the mono block 600's. I ran against a few they were quick.
Today slp makes some with great power also. Of your choices I would go with the deckers.

I did a little research today on the Deckers, I found out that Dynotech had them in a pipe comparison back in the day on a 96 XCR (same motor as my XLT SP) pipe shootout and they were one of the top pipes, as was the SLPs and PSIs. I can't find any information on the DGs though. The Deckers are also ceramic coated. Thanks guys.

Guy on Ebay wants too much for those Decker pipes.
Also I would make sure you engine has the crank bearing/oiling hole upgrade done
before putting pipes on it. That is asking for trouble if you don't.
If you are not aware of the problems with these motors look here:

Yeah, I'm not going to pay that much for those pipes, I did send him an offer on them. ACEXLT....did you see the DG ones? What are your thoughts on them. Yeah, I have read all the stuff on the crank problems. I appreciate it, thanks.

So is $200 a good price for the Deckers? Can you get head flanges anywhere or do I need to use theirs specifically? Thanks guys!
