Doing a 136" on my 96 XLT SP and thinking about doing the 8" wheels on it, not the expensive billet, probably plastic ones. Who has done it and where did you get the stuff for it. It is the x-tra 12 rear. Thanks for the help.

If you are using the stock rails, you will need an axle kit. the best known company is mountainmachines.com if you are just extending the existing track, you can get extensions made by tracksusa.com and use your stock axle and the wheels of your choice

I am currently longtracking my snowmobile and I'm using a black plastic wheel that looks like this....

its a 9" wheel but they make one just like it that is 8", a few people on this site have used these wheels and are very satisfied with them. You can find them at Avid-products.com and i believe they run about 35 dollers a piece. They also sell an offset axel for the larger wheels.

Another place you could check for plastic wheels would be slydogskis.com

Tracksusa.com makes a great rail extension

If I were you it would be a good idea to stay away from mountainmachines.com, yes they have very nice products but many people have delt with terrible service and have ended up waiting months for the items they purchased.

Just my .02

Check out Sly Dog Skis for some new wheels.
They have a new line of wheels that actually pull snow into the rear skid that helps in cooling the hyfax and keeping things lubed. Check them out.

I agree with sledwrecker. DO NOT GO TO MOUNTAIN MACHINES!!!!!! Terrible service. They have screwed a lot of guys on here. Do a search and read about them before you buy anything from them. I'm speaking from first hand experience.

I need big jugs on my sled, cuz my girl doesn't.

the tracks usa fit perfect. I did the 136 kit, but am wondering why you want to go to bigger wheels??If there is a good reason, I may do it also, I did the 136 extensions, and went to an 8 drive cog, from the nine, just because I went with the 1.75 track. Ionly wish someone out there made heavy duty springs for the xtra 12. Polaris wants 80 a piece, AC is 18.00, go figure

I heard/read that bigger wheels do something with the rolling resistance due to the fact that the track doesn't make such a drastic curve with the 8 or 9 inch versus the stock ones. Can anyone clarify this a little more? Thanks for the inputs though.
