Doing a 136" on a 96 XLT SP and was thinking about a 8" wheel kit while I was at it. Who has done it and where did you get it. Not really looking for billet wheels probably plastic ones. I know SLP has them for $20 each. Who makes the axle kits? Thanks guys.

you can buy the offset axle kit out of www.hiperf.com for about 139.95...with this kit you could put 2, 3, or 4 wheels on it and you can buy the black plastic 8" idlers for about 29.00 a peace...or you could get the aluminums for $99.99-to $129.99

Yea but their service sucks! I tried them when I did my extension and I was on hold forever. tracksusa.com is where I went and I was very pleased with the product. I retained my 6" wheels though. They do have extensions made for 8" wheels, they are milled differently so you can use your stock axle and just change out the wheels. I don't own stock or anything just a pleased customer. :)

The extensions I have are the ones from tracksusa. I was just wondering if it was worth it to go to 8" wheels while it is all out or just stick with what I have?

I really don't think so, all they do is reduce drag at that point on the track, it frees up one or two horsepower at the most

its not worth it for you. its best suited for people running 144 tracks or bigger due to the rotating mass. your better off spending the cash somewhere else on the sled. maybe gearing or clutching parts after you extend it to a 136.

cheers

Just bought my set up from Mountain Machines.
They have to make my extensions going from a 144 to a 159
about 2 weeks out.
Running 2 8" inside the skid for better turning and sidehilling
the set up cost me $290 delivered, included extensions, axle and idler wheels
I didn't go billet just cause the only time you'll see them is when my sled is on the trailer.

See ya on top of the mountain!
If you can make it

Thanks guys, I think I will not do the 8's and use that money for a ATAAC from Holtzman since my elevation varies from 3400 to over 6800. Now if I could only make the next 4 months go by quicker I could get all my projects done and be happy.
