I noticed that theres not much topics about peoples first sleds, so I thought I´d start one. I started sledding in 2004, pretty much because my my dad happened to be at the right place on the right time so he got us a 00' Yamaha Phazer for just 800€. Without that coincidence I propably wouldn´t have found the great hobby of sledding. Anyways, I wasn´t old enough to drive legaly on the trails back then, so I just used to ride around our lake and stuff like that. In the summer of 2004 we traded the Phazer in for a Polaris Xc Sp 500, wich pretty much was the first sled that I rode properly, because I got my license in the January of 2005. But that´s pretty much the story of my first sled and how I started sledding. Now it´s time for you to tell us yours, and post pics too if you have any! Here are a few pics of that Phazer:
Acchieve what you belive in before you leave up in a coffin..

I started riding in 1995, on a 93 XLT Special which I still have and to this day it's still my favorite sled. Our neighbor had about 600 acres of land and wanted a way to groom the trails for x-country skiing, she bought a 90 something indy 500 and rode that for about a year. After a period of time grooming trails kind of took a second spot to riding. My mother had ridden the Indy 500 and loved it so when she found the XLT for sale we went and looked at it. I ended up selling my power wheels Jeep and drum set to help pay for part of the sled. At first I was too scared to even ride it but after a little bit of time that ended. all these pics were taken last season, it doesn't get much use at all anymore, maybe 50 miles a year but it's nice taking a trip back in time every now and then.

I believe I started riding in '98 or so. Me and my brother got my dad's and uncle's old '77 Jag 340's, that we pulled out of my uncle's tree's after sitting there for 10+ years. My mom's brothers got us interestedt, we rode with them since we were quite little.

I started rideing in 2004. My dad bought me and my brother sleds for Christmas. He got a 120 and I got my current sled a 2004 Polaris Supersport. The Supersport is now going to my brother and I'm getting a new sled for this upcoming winter.

My first sled was a 1985 Ski-doo Skandic. When I turned 14 my grand father gave it to me. After that I had a 1972 Yamaha and then moved up to a 1998 MXZ 670. Yay. I loved driving all of them. I can't pick one over the other. Got rid of the 1972 a few years back. Still have the other two though. :) haha
Sledding is the life. All I want to do is Ride.

I started out on a 93 440, when I was 8? Then Moved on to my own 91 340, and dad rode the 440, and now I ride dads sled and Am in the market for my own. The 340 is even my favorite over the 700 just because its light and flickable with the longtrack, its the beast.

My first and only other sled was a 1970 Massey Ferguson Ski Whiz. It lived up to it's heritage... it was a Tractor. This was back in the mid 70's when we had snow. I pulled out more machines than I could count. It wouldn't do over 40 but it would do that 2 up all day long. It was a fun sled.

I started riding in 2001/2002
My first sled was a 1995 Indy 5oo. I bought it from a friend because it did wheelies. Bad decision. That sled costed me a lot of money and I wasn't able to ride it very much. I then bought a 96 XCR 440. I loved that sled.

This Phazer was MY first machine. I loved it, it would go just about anywhere. When it did get stuck, it was light enough to easily get unstuck. But I was getting too big for the machine, and the suspension(or lack thereof) was really doing a number to my body. So I sold it this Spring and got the 2003 RMK 550. I know the machine is still in good hands It required very little maintenance. All I had to do was replace some electrical stuff, put a new track on, and replace a connecting rod. I did also replace the rear shocks.
