I've been working quite a bit on figuring out the correct algorithms, etc, to use on the forum search. I've made some good progress. It returns much more relevant data and MUCH, MUCH faster too. I'll continue adding options and optimizing more throughout this week. Let me know if you encounter any problems or if it doesn't seem to be finding what you think it should be finding.

Seems to work good. One suggestion I have is to have a page somewhere that lists the shortcuts for people to refine their searches better. Such as the + key and the quotation marks. I don't have these memorized and do not know if they are universally applicable. For example, if you search for "track," but also want results that include "tracks."

Cool.

I do miss the option of searching topic titles or threads themselves.

Matt, there's really no need for that. I've weighted it so that titles and descriptions that have key words you search for weight more so they appear near the top of the result list although in some situations topics which include more posts with the key words you specify may rank higher in the search results than those topics with titles having the key words you specify. In either case, I'm pretty certain it's going to find what you want. If you know of something it's not finding, that it should be finding, let me know.

^ ahh.. didn't know it was "weighted"

Sweet..

I was also thinking you might have had it that way so that it was less taxing on the servers. I have heard searching can be hard on a server.
