Even though the ground was white this morning, it wasn't enough. The last week my days have gone something like this:
1. Get up (quite late) and look out the window to see if it's snowing. (It never does)
2. Start up the computer which is set to automatically load about 10 different weather sites into easy-to-access tabs on my browser.
3. Methodically check all the weather sites for any good news concerning snowfall.
4. Experience a quick shot of adrenaline when one of the sites predicts some snow in the next 15 days.
5. Experience deep depression when I realize that long range forecasts ALWAYS predict snow for about 10 days in the future and then when the day for snow gets closer, they move it back another week.
6. Experience anger when, once again, the snowstorm tracks south and hits Mankato or Rochester.
7. Head for the couch and lay there watching "Hogan Knows Best" marathons all day while I pout about how much my life sucks.
Does anyone else get this brown winter malady? I think that thick book that shrinks use has something in it that they call "Winter Affective Disorder." It's caused by the lack of sunlight in winter months not producing enough seratonin in the brain which causes crankiness and depression. My self diagnoses says that I have Winter Affective Disorder caused by lack of SNOW, not lack of sunshine. Should I seek counseling, or are there other cures for this problem that I'm overlooking? If anyone else has problems resembling mine your comments and suggestions could prove helpful.
