Your not stiffning the shock by turning the spring...You are adjusting the preload thats it. To stiffen the shock you need to take it off and have someone redo the valving in it.

woodbooga: (WOOD-boog-ah), n. regional dialect, common to areas of New Hampshire and Maine including the towns of Ossipee, Alton, Farmington, Acton, and Lebanon; one who attempts to obtain free firewood to fuel woodburning appliances in an effort to mitigate expenses related to home heating with fossil fuels. Frequently used as a term of derision by non-woodburners who mock the presence of loose bark and other wood waste in the beds of their pickup trucks.

You said you already increased the pre-load on one. If the other one doesn't have a coil-over spring, then you have to increase the pre-load on the torsion springs. Maybe somebody more familiar with Cat can chime in and help you with exactly how that is done on your sled.

How would you adjust the torsion settings on a 99 xcsp?

Take the front end of the spring off the slider near the rail. Then turn the cam at the back of the spring near the rear scissor to a higher setting. Then replace the front end of the spring. Repeat on the other side.
