Okay, I did a search on Anti Virus software and found several topics. But, since they are all at least 6 months old I figure that times have progressed and there are new options out there.
I need a new software package. I've been running Norton for the past few years, but I've noticed that it makes my system run/boot slower. Plus, I'm just now recovering from a complete system crash. I lost EVERYTHING on my C: drive. Luckily, there wasn't too many important things on it, mostly just operating system and programs. Most of my data files are on a seperate physical drive (learned my lesson long ago on that one). What's odd is that whatever happened wiped out the complete partition, but left the 'Recovery Parition' intact. I rebooted my machine after it being on for 4 days straight, when it came back up it told me there was no operating system. I rebooted thinking it was being flakey and it came back up and told me that there was a read error on the drive. Further investigation showed that that partition was missing completely. Totally strange. At any rate, I'm back up and running (still don't have all my software re-installed yet) with a completely fresh install of Win XP... should have just done linux.
So, now that I've bored you with my crappy weekend of hard drive rebuilding, what does everyone use for anti-virus software?
Not so long ago, a deranged, ranting person's audience was limited to how many people happened to be on the same street. The Internet, however, has certainly allowed "crazy" to go global...
