I was out riding this weekend when I stopped to kill my sled nothing happened. I am not sure what happened, but the kill switch died. I could just turn the key to kill the engine, but this is not ideal. I went and looked at the diagrams online and I wasn't quite sure how the kill switch worked? I didnt see and circuts it would connect/disconnect to kill the engine. I am going to take it apart this weekend, but wanted to get a little infor first. Also, do the tethers work in the same manner?

That is what i assume. When I take it apart to check that, I was wondering if the throttle cable could get messed up by effecting the length? Is this possible. I have not done a whole lot of work on my sleds and just want to try to verify a few things before dive in.

the kill switch stops the spark from firing by opening or closing the circuit(either by the kill switch or teather) to ground out the spark. This is basicly how it works. On my polaris, there is a connection under the handlebar pad, that if you disconnect it would cause the switch not to work. That my have become corroded or the wire melted or something of that sort. I would test the wire and the switch.

the revs have the same problem. The contacts get coroded (sp?) and then dont contact. Spray some wd-40 in your switch and see if it works then.

The switch seems to move just fine so I do not think it is corroded, but I will try some WD-40 and it that doesnt work I will take it apart and see if the connection has fallen out.

all kill switches ground ignition circuit. Your problem is a broken wire or loose ground screw or badly corroded switch. check continuity between switch and ground where wires go into switch. Most likely not switch. Probably wire. to check switch cut wires and check switch continuity when open and closed.

wd-40 is just kerosene with perfume in it. it won't scrape corrosion off. Switches can be corroded and still open and close. I think you have a broken wire. Let us know how it goes..
