HELP, I see the fixed ig mark on the front of engine and a single line on inside edge on the flywheel and five lines on the outside edge. The inside mark is off one inch but moves towards ig mark when revved up. The other five are off about 3 to 4 inches off. The idle is around 3800. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

what makes you think the timing is the issue with it? why not the carb?

It has a real slow throttle response, there is a video of it on youtube.com which show it running and revving with the track off the ground. We have clean the carbs before but it's always done that. When it's warm, 4000rpm to full throttle, 8000 to 9000 it's there at a snap of your fingers. Just really slow low end response. It has stock carbs with K&N prechargers.

The 1980 txl EC34PL motor timing is .198BTDC and 31.5 degrees @3,000 rpm. The longer line on the flywheel is 31.5 degrees BTDC. The longer line is he one in the middle. If this helps.
