I've been running an 80Gby hard drive, for the last 2 yr's.
For the past several month's I've only had about 11% freespace on My drive, Can You Say SSlloooowwwwww!!
Originally I was thinking, Add another 80Gby internal slave drive, Be Happy!!
Stopped at Wally World, all they had was a 160Gby WD internal for $79.00
Thought I dont want to spend that much!
Went home cruised EBay, ended up finding an 400Gby USB External drive for $79.00 + shipping.
Pretty much spent $90.00 delivered to the house.
Drive arrived, I plugged it in , transffered a bunch of file's, and ended up with 86% freespace on My internal drive, and still have 83% freespace on the external.
I figure it's worth the
$90.00, and the 3 minute's it took Me hook it up.

Sounds like what I did in my backup thread I have in this part of the forum. But looks like your using it as a main drive? I am using mine purely as a backup just in case this thing craps the bed on me again I won't lose all my "good stuff"

You may find that using an exturnal HD thru a USB connection is a little slower than internal becuase of the transfer rate of USB vs an internal ATA drive but it will certainly do the trick. Can beat the cost per megabyte.

I use my strictly for backup as well. My connects through firewire, which is apparently faster than USB but i cant tell a real big difference. They sure can be a life saver though, thats for sure.

How would you use your Three Days of Grace?"

Pretty much just using it as a slave, all the main prosessing still take's place on the 80gig internal.
I've already noticed faster operation, by moving all the excess stuff over.
