Why would you do that when a Factory Pro XR will smoke your XLT. I meen if you gana go as far a buy a Pro XR, you might as well just run it the way it is.

umm why do i want to do it? because i would rather have a sled that can handle jumps and is lighter, ahndles better ect, at the moment i cant afford a race sled but i could probaly could afford one with no engine take the one out of mine and part my sled out.

i would save up and do it right the first time, because you may have to severly modify things to get the tripple to work. then when you sell it of deside to go to a twin the chassis will be weaker...

Well, i understand your reason, but one thing is, is your basically taking the motor out of honda civic and putting it into a mustang. It'll work, but you'll have to do a lot of modifying and time into it. And as of right now, its almost january and there's snow. So if i were you, id put up with the old hog for the rest of this winter, and than buy a whole new sled next season.

well im buying a new 600rr iq or a 440 rev/iq for next season anyway, and if i keep this thing im 144in it pro-xr skid, 8 tooth drivers with 2 inch paddle track, but that is in the summer when i will be doing that.
I would really like to do this tho im already kind of sick of my sled, it doesnt keep up with the revs on the trails at all.

instead of buying a prox chassis you could buy an edge complete sled cheaper.

hmmm are you sure? the average edge around here is 3000 i was looking to buy a pro-x chassis for around 700 or so? I dont need everything on the sled, i can put my ski's seat and tank, steering system and stuff off my wedge on it.

Buy Madcow's clutch kit and you will keep up with the rev's! No joke

i will be buying a clutch soon but that dousnt help me that much in the corners, i think i might just see how much i can pick up an 800 motor for, or maybe even a 900 twin im still going to sit on this for a couple days even if i do this it will be in a couple of weeks.

Actually a good clutch setup will help tremendously in the corners. It helps with the backshifting and the keeps the sled in the powerband better for coming out of the corner. Somebody can probably explain it better then me.

if you can pick uip a pro xr chassis for 700, go for it. i was looking at one and i offered 2500 and he sold it to someone who offered more. also if youre looking for performance, plan on alot of time building the pipes, and when you start cutting and hacking pipes, you lose performance unless done right. aint and easy swap, if youre gonna do it id do a ultra or xcr 800 motor to be worth your time.
again i will never tell anyone not to do a project, but just trying to give light on what to expect. anything can be farm engineered, it takes time and money to do it right.

I'd say if you can get a chassis that cheap, do it. It would be pretty sweet. I'm always into people doing something different, getting by on the cheap. I try to fabricate as much as I can. Drop brackets, bar riser, hand guard brackets. All free except labor. I'm cheap, or broke. Whatever. Cool idea, thumbs up.

i think its a complete waste, you want to get a chassis that is that nimble and then put a turd motor in it. even if your xlt motor is somewhat modified, it still isnt par to the more modern twins.

Don't do it, way to much work when 440 motors are a dime a dozen right now. If you get that chassis put a liberty twin in there, the 440's and 600's are fairly easy to do.

If i was going to put a different engine other then my xlt, it would be a 800 triple or just the 440, im going to do it either way i think but im going to wait untill i see a chassis for a good price and i might save up and buy a 800 triple. There is nothing wrong with triples i love mine and it isnt a "turd" engine it seems to have lots of power for me....

Why buy a clutch when you can buy a "clutch kit"? But I mean if your going to get a sled do it... But if you are going to keep it then if I were you I would buy madcows clutch kit with the gear for $170.00 us, trust me when I say this his kit really wakes the triples up and pulls and pulls and keeps pulling. I come into the corners in the trails slide my back end around and punch it and she is right there, I have no complaints about this clutch kit. Jon A.K.A Madcow is awesome to deal with no doubt and I have saw many people on this site with his kits in fact go and check out pigboys topic in the general fourm as he talks about beating a xc 600 edge version with madcows kit. He has pipes though where I do not but I still can make people wonder if I am going to beat them...
