I went on my first snowmobile trip for this season. Tynan19 and his Brother drove up from Central MA and picked me up early Friday AM. We drove to Bridgewater, ME and dropped the sleds at a friend's house rode to Ft. Kent, ME. When we drove up the temps were -10F. When we drove home it was raining and 37F.
The map tracks are a little hard to read in this format.
Day 1 - 144 miles
Day 2 - 203 miles
Day 3 - 213 miles
Day 4 - 100 miles
The entire trip.
Starting out in Bridgewater. Chris has a nice Nissan Titan truck and we took my poor little trailer. I can't imagine how fast those little wheels were spinning at 80 mph.
Safe and sound in Ft. Kent just before dark. There's 3 or 4 feet of snow on the ground!
Next day there were 5 of us. Nice sunny day, temps in the teens, nice trails system and a couple of well seasoned guides. The homeowner and his friend have been riding "The County" for about 20 years.
The crew.
Right before I took this picture, as we were riding thru the woods on some twisties, these three sleds went by the other way. I was last in our group. The first sled that passed me was an '00 Polaris 700 XC DLX. I knew that because I owned the 600cc version of the same sled and it has a distinctive red color. Anyway, about two minutes later the 700 DLX is on my rear bumper making a nuisance of himself. I figure I'll let him blow by and try to ride his tail for a while. I signal for him to pass and he pulls up alongside and starts yelling at me. We both stop and he introduces himself as a SF member, Luke68Polaris. I knew he lived up in Van Buren, which was close to where we were at the time. I told him who I was and off he went, back to find his friends and me to mine. Small world. Those of you who have seen pics of my sled know I've a big SF sticker in the center of my windshield. Luke saw that going the other way and spun his sled around and took off after me.

On the way back to the truck, Chris had an owl fly out over the trail in front of him.
Putting a Polaris to good use in a tree.
The "Border Trail".
It was a wicked good trip in a wicked good piece of the country. Hope we get some more snow so we can return later next month or March.
