There is an all new throttle that I'll have out for next season.
New all billet lever with all new design.
Edge Works in Meridian, Idaho (10 miles west of here) is cutting out the first 10 proto types now.
I've basically got 2 years into getting the whole throttle re-designed.

The biggest advantages are that it will take up about 1/2 the bar space of the current model,
It's more adjustable with the addition of in-line cable adjuster at the other end of the cable.
It will fit around those big Ski-Doo control panels much better, as well as fitting the other brands better too.
Mount up time is even faster than the current set up.
All cable lengths are pre-cut for the specific models,
Even higher quality cables than the current ones that the other guys still haven't caught up to yet.
In short, there will be NO better throttle available anywhere.

Now don't get me wrong,
the current throttles are great and argueably as good as anyones if not better,
but this new one is definately taking the off side throttle technology forward to a point where it just hasn't been before.

I'll have the pictures up as soon as I get the protos in hand.
Release date is to be determined as the last parts of the design process turn into the first production run.

Retail is going to be higher than what we have out right now,
But it is billet and also a much better quality and design than anything available today.

Retail will be in the $169 to $189 range.
I'm working on getting these as close to the lower end of that price range as possible while compromising on exactly NONE of the quality and features.

To put this into perspective with the rest of the dual throttle market:

Lefty brand is good quality, $100 retail for their latest model, It was redesigned from their $225 model in what I think was a direct effort to bring the price down.
It's a small thumb flipper aimed into the 6:00 position and has a plastic thumb throttle part mounted onto an aluminum mount. The short lever also makes it a light switch in that it's pretty much either full on or off, no modulation or control in being able to just go 1/2 throttle and finess it through when needed.
The right side bell crank always moves when you use the right side throttle and it just slides back and forth on the cable end.
I'm not sure as I don't repair other brands, but I think it will wear out that side of the cable.

Snobunje brand is my favorite of my competitors. Retail is $125 to $145 depending on where you buy it.
They have a nice shaped custom lever, their safety lock out is a quick disconect on the right side and that does work well.
The 1 thing I don't like so well is their bell crank on the right side also moves every time that you use the stock right side throttle, and so I think this will also wear out the end of the cable.

Gold Finger is $100 and is an OK unit.
They work and are reliable. Their right side adapter works quite a bit like mine, only they don't double nut the right side, making it easier for it to come loose.
Their lever is really small and that makes it easier to miss when you grab for it in a hurry, and the short lever also makes it a light switch in that it's pretty much either full on or off. The longer levers would be better as longer levers operate smoother and also allow for good throttle modulation and controll.

Powermadd no longer makes a dual throttle kit.
Theirs retailed at $149 last year.
It was a good unit, looked just like the Lefty brand on the left side.
Their thing was that their cable did not go to the right side throttle,
Instead it went into a splitter that you added to the end of your current throttle cable and this was very clean. The problem though is that in order for theirs to work, you had to disconect the wire to the micro safety switch in the right side throttle block. Otherwise when the left side throttle opens up the carbs, but the right side throttle does not move, the safety system thinks that your carbs are frozen open and it shuts your motor down. Poor design on this part in general.

That leaves an almost virtual unknown, SMW's dual throttle kit. (Snowy Mountain Wintersports)
They are the least expensive at $70.
They do have a right side adjustment which is cool,
but I don't like the hose clamp on the right side of the handlebars at all.

Don't get me wrong, each of these throttles work well, and each does have their strong points as well.
I did buy one of each and then tear them apart to find every possible strong point as well as their week points.
I'm just building a much better one.
It's the zero compromise approach to both quality and features.

I looked at the best aspects of each throttle and then made mine even better than any, then I looked at all of my current throttle's week points as well as the other guys week points, and then made sure that this new model is a great improvement over every throttle's week point out there.

It's a bit pricy, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. I'll be buying one for my next sled forsure.

Thanks, I do appriciate that.

I know what you mean too. Getting actual billet cut out here in the states really pricey, especially when it's a new design and drawings etc.
So many really expensive steps that have to be gone through in order to do it right.

I'll be taking pre-orders with a healthy discount when we start the first 100 lot.
Of course I'll keep you guys posted as to when that is.

I am picking up the first 10 on Tuesday and I have the final pricing on everything to do this right.

So here's the deal:
Normal retail will be $189.99
I have 5 of these proto's spoken for, and we now know that the lever works perfectly as we did get 1 done and mounted it up on a machine already.

So if you want one of the other 5,
Let me know and I'll knock $30 off the price for you right off the top.

I would like one, but if I buy it for my XC, it wont fit my next sled right? It'll probably be a nitro MTX if that helps, if I buy one now, it'll have to work on both sleds, if not I'll just wait till I change sleds.

The only difference is the stainless right side adapter mounting, about 1 dollar worth of mounting hardware, and the instructions.
I'd throw that in to help you out.

Truthfully, we are talking about a $159 dual throttle kit prototype that I'm into for WELL OVER $300 being a proto and all, I'm not going to sweat a total of $2.50
