I don't see any post about this, so here it is! right from DT site. if I find any pictures, I will update this!

Why E-tec?

- Simple System

- Minimal weight increase (415lbs)

- DQR (Durability, Quality, and Reliability)

- Same engine base as carb & SDI

- Battery less

- Same peak power as 600SDI (118hp)

- Technology is owned by BRP Inc.

- The reputation of our E-TEC outboard engines is very strong

Allocations are 1 per dealer.

I will be calling each of you today to confirm if you want one.

Here's some more info on the new model:

Model Name: 2009 MXZ TNT 600 E-tec (non-electric start)

Model #: MJ9A

MSRP: $9549

Ship Date: scheduled to arrive last week of January.

Fuel Economy: At 21 mpg US/25 mpg CDN, the 600 H.O. E-TEC uses 15% less fuel than the company’s current 600 H.O. semi-direct injection (SDI) engine, 78% less fuel than the Polaris‡ 600 CFI and 92% less than the Arctic Cat‡ 600 EFI.*

Oil Economy: Most owners will have to add oil just once per season, due to the added precision of the system’s electronic oil pump and sophisticated computer mapping. The 600 H.O. E-TEC uses half the oil of the SDI and Polaris 600 CFI, and just a third the oil (66% less) of the Arctic Cat 600 EFI. (There will be a new Di oil for this sled – each dealer will be auto-shipped 1 case soon)

Emissions / smoke and smell: The 600 H.O. E-TEC is the cleanest two-stroke snowmobile engine by a wide margin, meaning there’s virtually no smoke or smell.

Lightweight: Because of its two-stroke configuration, the 600 H.O. E-TEC is naturally lightweight, helping to improve handling and reduce rider fatigue. The MX Z TNT with 600 H.O. E-TEC weighs just 415 pounds (188 kg)….still at least 50lbs lighter than the competition!

Hassle-free ownership experience: Engines with E-TEC start on the first pull every time; run with a super smooth idle and instant response; the platinum-tipped spark plugs are warranted for three years; and features an automatic summerization function (automatic cylinder fogging…2min, and its done…all at the click of a button!)

Sounds like something they inherited from the purchase of Outboard Marine. The FICHT injection system was supposed to be the best, but the warranty problems ultimately put OMC into bankruptcy. Sounds like they have it perfected!

What will Yamaha use now? Oil consumption..One oil change and one tank of oil, Weight..definitly no, fuel economy...not going to work, best of all these are extremely reliable engines. Now put this tech in the 1000 or base it off the 951 watercraft engine and with the light weight xp and this engine Doo will make the others do some catching up!

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor. Rangers Lead The Way!.."All the way!" <<<<<1st Bat, 75th>>>>>

The numbers don't add up 92% better fuel economy than the arctic cat 600 @ 21MPG so they are trying to say that the Arctic cat gets 1.68 MPG Don't think so, but then it wouldn't be the first time the BRP wasn't 100% truthful with what they tell their customers.

Ha, good luck if you believe everything you read from BRP. I sure don't, their E-tec outboards are overhyped and burn way more fuel then the Yamaha 4-strokes. I know several guys that have them, and they regret buying them. A guy has a 75 on an 18'x5' skiff and he uses more than my F115 I have on my 22'x5.5' skiff, both aluminum. Another has a 115 E-tec on a 20'x6' skiff and he uses twice as much fuel as I do. blah, blah, blah.

Time will tell, but I still won't buy one. BRP still has their issues with reliability.

They are saying Cats get 11mpg. 92% of 11 is 10, add that to 11 and ya get 21mpg. I hope this works out for Doo so Cat and Polaris can put the rush on their DI systems. The one start pulls, low oil usage, and push button engine fogging sounds promising.

The wording is wrong. 92% less fuel means if an AC takes 10 gallons, the e-tec would take .8 gallons. 92% better than the cat means 21 as opposed to 11. That's what you get when you don't let your technical staff proofread you releases.

E-Tec, less oil consumption, OK. Call your delaer and see how much a gallon of the oil will cost next August. Hows $90 a gallon sound from what i've been told!
