so the ol zr is falling apart, it cant handle mountain riding i put it through.

so i got this 1996 RMK 500 EFI 136" ,5000 miles, but great shape for the milage!!

what are problems to watch out for?
think it will be more reliable than my zr was?

and does anyone know the horse power???

thanks guys, really need your input on this one

thanks for all the input.....

Has ANYONE ever modded a sled like mine? rode in deeep powder yesterday and needs a 144" atleast!!!

Modded poo pics please????????

get rid the of efi, and put carbs on.

pretty much always on mt st helens, so yes.
and i would say 6 of every 10 trips were soft or powder.

and get rid of EFI? only if i were to get a bigger better motor to replace it... like a genII 600 or bigger

Buy a new battery every year. Make friends with the Polaris EFI guys on here, or you will wish you did. Polaris EFI was great until you had problems. Then it was so tricky that most Polaris dealers couldn't figure them out. Because your in the mountains I would keep the EFI until you have problems....then you will have to decide the fate of the machine....Plan on a new battery every year though.

Ya 500 is pretty small. Drop in a bigger motor than put on a longer track.
